Plus Texas has not always historically not been able to have the best passing qb's b/c throughout the late 60's and the 70's almost every main school in the state ran the wishbone or the veer or some sort of running offense

Keller was a joke at Nebraska couldn't even last the whole year. And Mark Sanchez couldn't get the job done at usc as the trojans wouldnt have made it to a bcs bowl without dixon getting hurt and booty returning. And don't forget chase daniel who is also from texas. I'm pretty sure stafford, reising and flynn all won bcs bowls. can the cali qb's say that?
Leinart didn't get beat by Vince Young. The USC defense did. Leinart actually had a great game and if USC's D had played to their potential it would have been a different story. Regardless, Leinart was a GREAT college QB (NFL remains to be seen if he can get out of his chick-magnet jacuzzi).
Keller was a decent QB at ASU, but suffered under terrible coaching at Neb.
Mark Sanchez as a backup didn't play enough last year to even be included. We'll see what he's got after '08. Same with Jimmy Clausen and eventually Matt Barkley.
Recent respectable college QBs from CA include: Rudy Carpenter, Dennis Dixon, Nate Longshore, Carson Palmer, Kyle Boller, Aaron Rodgers, Casey Clausen, JP Losman, Gino Toretta, Ken Dorsey. Not sure how many went to BCS games, but it takes more than a good QB to have a good team.

Football in the Pac-10 is so over rated. Qb's from texas stay in stay or in the South for a reason to play football in the best conferences like the SEC or the Big 12

good post. i was there at the usc-texas game a few years ago and i agree that thet usc d got torched. one thing that i'll always remember that coulda changed that game was the bonehead pitch pass by bush that resulted in a texas recovery. im still shocked by his decision to do that...such a frustrating game to watch

Another reason that Texas historically did not produce quality QBs is that they had severe restrictions on offseason, independent camps until about 10 years ago. With the development of the 7 on 7 camps this has further allowed passing QBs to develop. If you ever sat down and analyzed the Texas starting QBs in Division 1A I bet you could get to almost 20 which is a pretty unbelievable stat. You could start out with out-of staters like Heisman Trophy candidate Chase Daniels, National Championship QB at LSU, A Big 12 All-Conference Candidate Todd Reising-see this is pretty easy-may be more than 20. Some people's conventional wisdom is 20 years old-just like the people who think that Texas doesn't produce among the very top basketball talent in the country-they do.

Chase Daniel and Todd Reesing are good QBs. I have no idea who Chase Daniels and Todd Reising are.

Do they give rings to losers? Cause the only time Collins was in the Super Bowl he threw 4 interceptions and lost 7-34...
I'll give you the fact that he did get there though...
