nice morning grammar mistake. good thing I'm not an English Major
June Jone is going to be extremely succesful at SMU.
I think Paul Johnson would have been extremely succesful at SMU. I am interested in seeing what happens at Ga. Tech. I don't think CUSA and the ACC are comparable. However, do you think that if SMU had the second coming of Eric Dickerson and Craig James that June Jones would change his offensive philosophy?
The starting AND backup RBs for Hawaii were drafted by the NFL in 2006. I'm sure that is pointed out to recruits by Wes Suan who was their RB coach... However, one of those RBs was recruited as a slot receiver and the other was a DL...so, the number of stars next to a recruit's name isn't as important as how well he fits (blocks, catches the shuffle pass, etc.) in the offense.
its not that ACC athletes arent capable of running that offense, PJ has a lot of work to do with that defense. Plus hes got to deal with UGA every year.
Some ACC athletes apparently have too big of an ego to run that offense. When it appeared that SMU was in on PJ, I was excited. I think he would have done well here. We've got a good stable of backs who would have been capable of playing in that slot-T offense. A lot of our players have relatively small egos (I mean, look at it...they only won one game last year). That being said, I am extremely happy with JJ and am excited about what he brings to SMU.
