Life is so tough for you guys. Not only did we always have Friday classes, but freshmen had Saturday morning classes too. Welcome to the real world kids.

Agreed completely. I live less than a mile from campus and was kind of looking forward to having an excuse to come and have a beer or two. This wasn't going to be a jello shots kind of place.

I also suspect that the United Methodist Church which has historically encouraged abstinance from alcohol weighed in with some thoughts to President Turner. He probably didn't want to go to the mat with them on that.

[quote]Abstinence remains the first ideal, according to the most recent, 2004, Book of Discipline. However, in a growing awareness that many United Methodists choose to consume alcoholic beverages, the Book of Discipline now contains the recommending phrase, “….and with regard to those who choose to consume alcoholic beverages, judicious use with deliberate and intentional restraint, with Scripture as guide.â€

" Dr. Turner said he's not ruling out a pub in the future. He said very few upperclassmen and graduate students who could legally drink live on campus, which raises the potential of driving while intoxicated. "
