Thanks genius. Of course I caught the possible connection of the homonym here that's related to the context of the underlying text. Is it supposed to be funny? Ironic? Stupid place to try that when you're talking about education.smu diamond m wrote:It's talking about a career development center... of course it's a play on wordsAlaric wrote: http://www.smu.edu/giving/

I threw in a colloquialism with the word "ain't" with the full knowledge that I was using informal English while poking fun at someone else's prose. I recognized this but someone else thought I might not have recognized it...argues my point.
No response to using "it's" incorrectly? Was that an intentional play on word? Was it sardonic humor? Irony? I need to quit drinking so much coffee.

I don't know why I bother using emoticons...they don't seem to convey the proper thought, or people just ignor them.Alaric wrote:I threw in a colloquialism with the word "ain't" with the full knowledge that I was using informal English while poking fun at someone else's prose. I re-read the thread and your post after I posted and saw your emoticon & realized you too were joking but I didn't have time to edit my post because I had to go get my 10th cup of coffeePK wrote:I don't know why I bother using emoticons...they don't seem to convey the proper thought, or people just ignor them.Alaric wrote:I threw in a colloquialism with the word "ain't" with the full knowledge that I was using informal English while poking fun at someone else's prose. Could we have a couple of commas here? And don't get me started on apostrophes. I HAVE seen this: Go Cowboy'sAlaric wrote: you too were joking
