I'm pretty sure nobody on this board who is pre-death penalty will like the new unis unless they are exactly like when they were in school.

I don't get why so many people don't like the ones from the last few years. Personally I thought that was one of the best looking uniforms out there, college or NFL. I have some friends around the country that have said the same (all mid/late 20s...maybe that's why).
I don't care if they are a hybrid of the Oregon and Wyoming jerseys as long as we win in them, to be honest.

Many people considered our uniforms to be one of the better ones out there prior to the blue helmets and red jerseys. And.. we did win in a uniform that will be similar to this one - quite a bit actually in the 80's before the dp. I understand all the coaches coming in and trying to change an image post dp - but obviously it's more than the uniform.
Personally, I think it's a great move to go back to the blue/white jerseys and white helmet/red mustang. It's time..
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

I really like the red jerseys, but the red pony/blue helmet just doesn't look clear at a distance. I think red pony white helmet is clearly the way to go, and for that you have to go to blue or white jerseys.

just to clarify, i am not saying the picture was the actual uniform (obviously) but a hint that it'd be switched back to something similar like that.
anyways I have seen a a couple of unis since my first day on the hilltop. i visited back in 2001, caught the Fresno St. - SMU game at Ford when they had the blue jerseys and white helmets and i thought those were awesome uniforms. my freshman year in 2003, we had the blue unis with the blue helmets and red mustangs. those weren't too bad. sophomore year they wore the same helmets and added a red version of the uniform and then the last 2 years there they had the red one w/ blue helmet and red mustang w/ white outline, only the uniform had all these stripes on it. solid uniforms but those blue ones are classic. i would love to see those again.

I am also a supporter of the white helmets, blue/white jerseys, and white pants but more importantly I am a supporter of having some continuity. Since 2001 there have been major or minor changes to the uniform almost every year. Let's pick something and stick with it! I feel that most people that know anything about SMU associate us with the white helmets. Maybe not, but tradition goes a long way. Most of the top 25 programs have uniforms that look the same every year. Obviously there are random Nike uniform changes, but you don't have to wonder about what Florida, Ohio State, or Texas' helmet is going to look like next year.

Well said. I agree except that SMU has worn RED jerseys many more seasons than the other color. So, I would consider RED the more "traditional" if that's the goal. Looks better, too.

Yep, the stripes on Lance's pants are the way they ought to be. The last few years, our unis have looked like arena ball. The stripes on the pants look like somebody poured liquid down the side of their legs. Horrible.

Along with a new uni how about a new name. I propose that we go back to our origianl nickname the Parsons. If not that then Rainbow Parsons or better yet Rainbow Warrior Parsons. The SMU RWPs for short.

Yep, Lance's helmet is big time. And I think across the chest it should say SMU, rather than scream...in some ridiculously huge font...SMU

Wouldn't mind having three jerseys (white, blue, and red) to go with those classic white pants and the white helmet....................
