SMU interested in 4 star Louisiana OG

Patrick Lewis 6-2 300 OG, who won MVP honors at the Baton Rouge Nike camp, was recently offered by aTm and is expecting an offer from SMU. Here is a quote.

While Lewis' recruitment continues to gain momentum the next program on deck may be SMU.

"SMU is definitely going to offer me," he said. "They called during the May evaluation and he told me to call coach Dauterive to get him my highlight tape as soon as possible."

Read something about him that described his blocking style as "violent." Got to love it.

Four stars on rivals, No. 15 guard in the nation, according to rivals. Has offers from Southern Miss, A&M, Tulsa, LaTech, South Alabama and Arkansas State.

Not from what I hear. Southern Miss is clearly in on him, but I'm told we have gotten in the race, too. Don't know how good a chance we have, but I gather we are in it.

Well from his quote above it is either USM or we have stolen one of their coaches.

Agreed - clearly HE is mixed up. But I have from two pretty reputable sources that we're involved. How involved, I can't say. We'll see. Hope my sources are right.

Southern Miss has already made an offer to him. SMU is waiting on his tape then we probably will offer.

That is the issue. According to your quote from him in your post, the person waiting on the tape is a USM coach, not an SMU coach. I do not see where it matters. If he is interested in us it would be foolish not to pursue him. I just see no evidence in anything posted here that he even knows we exist.

We have a real shot at this young man from what I am hearing.

I believe you, but will say again, the quote in your original post, from the kid himself, says that he expects an offer from SMU, after Coach Dauterive receives his tape. Unless I am mistaken, Coach Dauterive is a USM coach. That is why I feel there may be some confusion.

Again, though, interested or not, I hope we are after him.

In the article that you posted it said that a coach from Southern Miss is waiting on a highlight tape. Mrydel was just saying in the story you originally posted there was no evidence that SMU was involved in this kid. Not to say he wouldnt be welcomed

Larry Dauterive is the high school coach at East Saint John HS. His is sending us a tape.

The "him" is the SMU coach. He was suppose to call Coach Dauterive (East St John HS coach) and have Coach Dauterive send "him" (the SMU coach) the tape.

I see how that can be confusing. I hope this clears things up.
