Well excuuuuse me...upper midwest (Indiana) pickles were always extra and counted towards "all the way".

That's what she said.

Had a great burger at Kincaids in South Lake last weekend. Very reasonable prices too.

If you're in Houston you might want to try Pappas Burgers. IIRC they are on Westheimer almost next door to Pappas Bros Steak House. Not much atmosphere but pretty good burgers as I recall.
GO PONIES!!!

Pappas isn't too bad but it's a bit on the pricey side. For my $$$ (when I lived in Houston), Texas Hamburger Palace won the BEST HAMBURGER IN TOWN category - hands down!
If anyone plans to travel to Houston for the Rice game, here are the directions to Texas Hamburger Palace:
From I-1o West... Take Beltway 8 South. Exit Harwin. Hang a left on Harwin. You'll come to Ranchester Road. Take a left. Texas Hamburger Palace will be on your right in the industrial park.
Address/Phone:

Ate lunch yesterday in Valley Ranch at a place called Luke's - owned by former Dallas Stars defenseman Brad Lukowich. It's in the same location of a place called Duffy's on MacArthur Blvd., and it's lightyears better than the old place. Got a cheeseburger (or I wouldn't be on here) and was pleasantly surprised. Lightly toasted wheat bun, and very flavorful burger. They actually make it as you ask for it, so there was no pickle residue or anything else that you get when it's pre-made. Lots of cheese, fresh onions - give it a B+.
Fries were weak.

Decor is a little barren, unless you get excited about Lukowich's Tampa Bay Lightning jersey hanging from the rafters, but it's not a bad place to watch a game over a cold beer.

Had Jake's in Addison for lunch today. Like a cross between Steak & Shake and Ball's. Nice scenery, though, and minimal wait for them to bring out your order.
Solid C+. Probably a B- if I had remembered to tell them no thousand island.

Ate at the one in Fort Worth Saturday - outstanding. Very TCU-ish. We could use one in the SMU area --- the places in Dallas are awfully weak compared to FW's Kincaid's, Dutch's, and Pappas.

Drove up Central Expressway the other day - how long has Cassidy's sports bar been gone?

Longtime. They're getting rid of all the trash over on that side of central and doing best things.

RGV, I've eaten there twice lately...good burgers, awful service, bad scenery. The patio is nice but expect a long wait for anything.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who has had a bad experience here. I think Jake's is over. Say "goodbye", Rick.

Pretty good burger: Gene's Tasty Burger in Wichita Falls. Watch out - the chilli-cheese fries are a large, large serving.
