Ok SMU football fans it’s time to make your travel and holiday plans for Houston Texas this year. No I’m not talking about Labor Day weekend when the Mustangs take on the Rice Owls; I’m talking about the Texas Bowl on December 30 when SMU takes on Texas A&M.

Re-writing the predictions of some magazine editors - when they're guessing about something more than six months away - is anything but "news."
Nice ideas, but at this point, it's nothing more than guesswork.

Oh yes. And in 2009 we'll be playing in the Cotton Bowl.
By 2010, we'll be in the BCS championship game.

The internet said it, it must be so.

I've learned from my friend jtstang to be cautiously optimistic. I don't think we'll bowl this year. Good times on the Hilltop nonethless.

It's great to have hope, it gets dicey when you start to have expectations....

Correct. At least as it relates to wins and losses. I suppose everybody has a right to expect that each player will give his all on the field. However, I'll just wait and see, even on that.

Like I said in the Justin Smart thread, the players expect wins. They expect bowling.

I remember JJ saying he expected two wins in the first three games and I will go with that.

What an incredible first year that would be for June Jones and this team. If we're able to make it to a bowl and just compete with our opposition you'd have to think June Jones wins Coach of the Year. Turning a 1-11 team into a bowl team. I too have talked to a few guys on the team that I still know and they have all said they are going into this season with a completely different mindset. The coaches have done an outstanding job of making the game fun for the kids, yet keeping them focused enough to realize there is a job to be done. I haven't been as excited for an SMU football season in my life. I predict 6-6 this year, but the big step will be next year IMO. Its going to be a great ride these next few years!
Back off Warchild seriously.

There has never been an SMU football team in the last 15 years when SMU players did not fully EXPECT to go bowling. Seriously, the players generally are totally clueless as to the relative strength of their opponents and their chances for a bowl. It sounds neat-o to hear the same predictions year after year though.
