Don't have a Scout subscription so I can't see if we are in on this kid or not. Would be a great addition for us at LB if we can get him.

Apparently many are recruiting him as a tight end.

Offers from us, Ole Miss, Colorado State, UTEP and Cougar High.

FWIW, Here is what Dave Campbell's mag had on him:

LB Thomas (67 tackles, 6 TFL, 4 sacks) will also play TE this year and "should shine," Harris said.

The Harris in question is Gregory-Portland coach George Harris, who tends to run a Wing-T style offense. That program, over the past few years, has produced a bit of D-1 talent (which is fairly uncommon in the Corpus area), with RB Connell Davis (Missouri) and DL Victor Brooks (Rice) coming to my mind.

Is there a reason he would not even be listed in Rivals?

I haven't seen him play since his sophomore year. Back then, I would say that he was 6'3" 210 and ran a 4.6 or so. He didn't have much of a team around him that year...I think they went 4-6 and, uncharacteristically for that program, missed the playoffs.

Here is a quote from the Scout article.

Thomas said his top five would definatley have Kansas at the top, followed by SMU
UTEP, Ole Miss, and Colorado

A slightly more close-up pic...holding on the white team probably kept him from making this tackle:

I was just thinking that with this kid's frame he might be able to grow into a pretty good DL.
