I agree. They can come and practice in my den the next time it snows on opening day of spring ball.

What about in December before the bowl game?

They will just have to play around the Christmas tree.

That's a tough point to argue against.

When exactly did Ford help recruiting Oh great one. It is only now that recruiting is improving. PB did have a nice initial class but after that recruiting tapered off. Reinbold may turn out to be the best recruiter we have had since Meyer. Ford helps if you have coaches who can win. Ford Stadium by itself can't recruit. Why the hate Stal ol pal. I always said that coaches were the most important thing. Looks like I am being proved right once again.

I can not remember when the last time was I read a recruit's committment that he has not mentioned the facilities, no matter where he committed. Every recruit that commits to Arkansas raves about the 100+ yard weight room. Our recruits all talk about the beauty of Ford and even the campus in general. The response to your question Nacho is can you imagine how much worse it would have been if we did not have Ford.

I will side on the "not needing an indoor facility at this time" group. But I am a strong believer that facilites sell recruits.

Most of the indoor practice facilities don't cost 15 million. I was told by a reliable source that it would cost between 3 and 5 million. If JJ sees the need for an indoor practice facility let's not do him like Hawaii did him and say no. I hope it gets done soon.

Logic 101. It doesn't have to be shown that recruiting is great in order to show that Ford Stadium has helped. It only has to be shown that it is better than it would have been.

You are holding an indefensible position my friend. Drop it or risk continuing to make a fool of yourself.

Ah Ha! It was Nacho!!!!!!!!!!! No hate just don't understand how anybody could conclude that Ford is not a Plus adavantage consideration for any recruit considering non-BCS schools in this region. I too agree that the scholarship limitations are or hopefully now were an even a bigger factor than facilities in SMU abysmal record. I also would even go as far as saying that Ford has somewhat of a small-time factor in comparison to other schools we recruit against in Texas because of its lack of size-that's what I want to address to make Ford reach its full potential. I think a Stadium of about 40-42,000 would really be helpful if SMU really wants to compete for National Top 25 attention.

I fully agree mrydel that facilities are important but more important are coaches who can recruit and win. We all saw what 5 years of PB did with Ford. Not to knock PB but I do think he was the worst coach in SMU history and I have seen every single game since 1915.

So Stal is saying we need a bigger stadium. Good grief.

They are all factors, I agree.

I will also agree with 86 that if Jones wants it and feels it is important, we should probably do it. But let's first let him decide what he feels is the most need at this time. We can not do everything at one time.

I've always maintained the lifeblood of a program is recruiting. Facilities sell recruits. I think Ford screams OUTSTANDING small-time non BCS facilities. It doesn't scream SHOCK and AWE to the top recruits we want who see big time stadiums across the Southwest. I think Ford is great for SMU now-I wished from Day 1 it was bigger.

I agree. As is, we don't have NEARLY enough empty seats at games. i feel like an additional 10-12,000 more empty bleachers could really make the stadium feel big time.

Sarcasm^

We need to win and maximixe the value of what we have first.
IMO, an indoor practice facility would lead to us winning more games faster than a bigger stadium. Thus, indoor facility should take priority. However, I don't think we need either at this time exactly.
We've never lost the tailgate.
