Best Tex Mex food

Sounds like the original Herrerras. Burned down what about 20 years ago now?

And agreed completely on the say no the chain restaurants of any kind, Mexican or not.

Thanks, PAMR! That's it!

I believe it's still open. It's on Butler Street between Maple and Harry Hines near Southwestern Medical Center. Butler intersects with Maple right before it hits Inwood.

Out of curiousity, does anyone remember the old Guadalajara restaurant on Ross that's now where the CVS is located(intersection of Ross and Haskell)? They moved further up to a new restaurant(it's now a carneceria) but I never ate there. I just remember, as a kid, the old restaurant.

My eldest stepdaughter recommends a place called 7 Salsas in Irving. Haven't been there but she says it's great. Anyone else been there?

Luna de Noche is tasty. We ate there the other night before seeing Jonny Lang at House of Blues. I've also become a Cantina Laredo fan. Love, love, love Chuy's 911 Hot Plate.

I'll also agree with the Joe T's recommendation. It's worth the drive IMO. I could live quite happily off of their margaritas and simple menu. Fort Worth has great Tex-Mex holes in the wall. I am sure Dallas does as well, but I have no recent experience there.

Okay, so maybe not worth that far a drive, but it is pretty good stuff. I'm not sure I know of any Mexican restaurant worth a 6 hour drive. My brother, who lives in LA and can't find any decent Tex-Mex, would probably disagree, though.

I eat at the one downtown quite a bit. I echo your sentiments about the bean and chees nachos. Can't go wrong with those.
