I like the idea of having UNT, TCU & Baylor all on the non-conference schedule in the future. Games of local interest, well attended (by fans of both schools) and just "right" for the bottom line
If you look at games played within the past 20 years, it a much closer series. SMU 3 wins UNT 2 wins.
'89 SMU '90 UNT '92 SMU '06 UNT '07 SMU
Gee you're right. The series has become much closer since SMU implemented a salary cap.
Not our fault that you only paid your players with Food Stamps and WIC cards.

Just don't send Oscar up to Denton. I want them to keep that crappy stadium for awhile

Look if you afraid of getting beaten by NTSU then you probably suck anyway and likely find it hard to find a pillow case you could handle. Really getting tired of so many SMU fans thinking small-time(ex. afraid to play NTSU, worried about how we can back into the Weed Eater Bowl with a 6-6 record rather than playing Hawaii and ending up 6-7).
I have no problem with this series. As the keeper of the star said, it's local and you get to travel to another away game, and you want to play regional teams for fan interest and fill seats. A lot of UNT fans came to Ford last year. The ones I spoke with were nice people.
We have no idea what these programs are going to look like in 2014. Odds are the current head coaches at the schools won't even be here. And UNT's new stadium -- if it ever gets built -- may be a nice venue to watch a game. I like the fact that the last game of the series in 2017 is at Ford.
Good idea. I wouldn't mind 3 of our 4 non-conference games be TCU, UNT and Baylor. Makes sense.
