Quick study of the 2008 QB positionJustin’s 2007 - 57.2% completions are not exactly bad, far from great.
However the 1.5 interceptions per game denote his inability to make good decisions consistently. With Jones pass happy offense this problem will have to be corrected by one of two methods.(fix or replace). It has been my experience that college QBs that have this problem don’t suddenly see the light no matter how good the coaching is. Will we throw a true freshman to the wolves in 2008? Will last years # 2 guy have a shot? This position by far is going to be the biggest question mark for the 2008 season. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/cview ... ayer=59014
Re: Quick study of the 2008 QB position
Last year's 1.5 interceptions per game had more to do with JWill trying to make something out of not much – something last year's coaches seemed happy to let him do... putting the offensive burden on one player. I actually thought he was a little more predictable his freshman year. I thought he had a tendency to always throw (and often force) the ball to Sanders when (often) Bobby Chase was 15 yards deeper and standing all alone. Anyway, correcting should be easily coachable IMHO. I know very little about being a QB and even less about JJ's offense, but from what I've heard, in this system the QB has certain rules in the read progression, which have to be cycled through quickly. So as long as Justin follows the "rules", there's very little arbitrary decision making. I think Justin could very well thrive in this system. Keeping my fingers crossed. I'm 6 feet even...he's taller than me...not by much, but he is. "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
All but a few of them were last year. I say that stat improves dramatically if he is starter and he has more than a 3-count worth of protection. "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
So are we saying now that Logan Turner has no chance to be the starter? Based on what we've seen to this point doesn't he have to be at least in the conversation? It seems like everyone is dismissing him. Towards the end of spring ball June and other members of the staff were giving very positive accounts of Logan's play.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Sounds good on paper ![]()
NFl draft scout has him at 6'1 and most of the stuff they post seems pretty legit. Not that it really matters in my opinion, 6'0 is enough to get the job done. I would also to expect Justin's completion percentage and TD/INT ratio to drastically improve in the new offense.
First he has to beat out Bo Levi and Braden Smith, who are now on campus. He might have his work cut out for him.
If we plan on starting a true freshman its going to be a VERY long year.

You had a very long year, last year...Some of these true freshmen are going to surprise you, including Bo and Braden.
Both those kids need a year to sit and learn. And yeah we had a long year last year. I don't think June or anyone else associated with the team thinks we're going to go 1-11 next season regardless of who the QB.
Back off Warchild seriously.
