South Carolina or Clemson because they would only play us at their places and at least I could attend

Northwestern, large chicagland midwest alumni base deserves this game that was scrapped last year.

Nobody in the overrated Big 10. Ever.
Except when we smack them around in a bowl game.

Houston Nutt said in an interview on sports talk here in Nashville that he was "recruited (as a player) to Arkansas to beat SMU".
Plus the President Turner ties, Boulevard vs the Grove, our girls vs their girls, etc.
Not quite right. He was hired as a Coach of Arkansas to beat SMU. We had a very good record against Arkansas in the 4 or 5 years prior to Nutt. They could not stand that SMU was beating them up. Nutt's primary responsibility when he was hired was to beat SMU and in his first year he beat us handily in Dallas, including scoring on the first play they had the ball. After that, they have not played us again. That was the definition of a no win situation for them had they continued the series.
Whoops my bad, I misremembered whether he was a coach or player. Was he Head Coach when they rolled in and beat us?

Notre Dame or Texas.
SMU's 1978 OOC schedule was Florida (at Orlando), Penn State (at University Park) and Ohio State (at Columbus).

We had a series scheduled with them that was supposed to be taking place right around this year, last year next year, somesuch. But it was canceled, as too was a series with BC in this same time fram... I think the BC games were to be last year and the year before. I think.

Yes. Played in the Cotton Bowl stadium. I remember vividly how he held his team back until we began our Alma Mater and then ran them on the field. Being out numbered by Arkansas fans in our own city, the roar was loud enough that the song could not be heard. Very low class, and he went down in my eyes from there.

Don't we play (at least have scheduled) A&M at Ford in 2011 or 2012?

My first post here as a Pony Fan.
My Daughter will be an incoming Freshman and I have started following SMU Football with interest lately.
I believe that June Jones will create a winning environment at SMU again.
As a USC Grad I suffered through many years of mediocre teams, and until Pete Carroll arrived, USC was not the NC contender of today.
I look forward to following SMU as it restores its winning tradition under JJ.
I look forward to the time when SMU can contend with and play against USC, UCLA, Texas, A&M, Auburn, Alabama, or any other Top 25 school.
SMU - IT'S YOUR TURN FIRE JUNE JONES USC Trojan for Life and SMU Dad!

Welcome HB Pony Dad to you and your daughter. We all (well most) certainly share your enthusiasm for the new regime. Hope to see you at Ford.

Welcome to the board but please know that we mortgage bankers blame California for the current (and all the past also) mortgage crisis. Please see what you can do about helping out in this area. Thank you.

Blame it on California. For everything else, blame it on Arkansas.
