As long as we can blame you for the oil crisis! I paid $4.80/gal to fill up my SUV yesterday.
right...especially considering the new oil wells just developed out at DFW...sorry for providing extra crude...

From 1983 to 1993, Notre Dame entered an unprecedented run of success in the USC-ND football series, beating USC 11 straight times. Including a 1994 tie, USC did not beat Notre Dame until 1996, going 13 years without a win
From 1991 to 1998 UCLA beat USC 8 straight years.
USC Alums only require two goals all year from the Football Team:
BEAT NOTRE DAME
BEAT UCLA.
Everything else is just gravy.
Indeed we suffered.
Of course the NCAA didn't try to kill the program either as USC generates too much TV money for them.
Reggie Bush and O.J. Mayo are doing their best to cause suffering as well.

Actually, TCU is a mere rivalry. We hate the BSC. This will create considerable conflict for you and may require therapy sessions.

so if a USC coach went 2-9 for 3 straight years and those wins were just UCLA and ND, would he still be coach? haha

We are all pretty spoiled since Pete Carroll started winning (Carroll went 6-6 in his first year, losing to Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl, 10-6.) so most probably not.
However after USC Lost to TCU 19-28 in the 1998 Sun Bowl, Paul Hackett
lasted two more years so maybe he would last a fourth year before the ax.

SMU would trade the Bush Library for a chance to lose to TCU in the Sun Bowl.

Maybe not for the Sun Bowl - but we'd trade it in a heart beat to play on new years - anywhere on new years.

Easy answer to this question - UT. They set the standard for football in the Southwest.

Welcome!!!
HB Pony Dad wrote:As a new Pony Fan I assume I hate TCU?
Sure. It's kind of not as fun as hating Texas like back in the day, but it has to do, I guess.
Sadly, I live in Austin now, and somehow I don't hate Texas anymore. Kind of impossible to not become a "tolerater" of a football team when you live in a town that's a much happier place when they win, especially when you are a huge college football fan, anyhow.
The worst, was, though when Texas played SC in the National Championship.... I had been a huge fan of USC forever, but the first year I was here in AUstin Texas played the Trojans in the National championship, well I was so sure that USC was going to win, I decided I'd side with the locals and root for Texas, therefore (in jtstang style) I wouldn't be disappointed. USC wins, "I knew it" and I get to feel good seeing Texas feel pain, or if they win, I'd been rooting for them all night. Well, um, Texas won.... and it was an amazing game and all, but there I had been rooting for them all night. My most hated team.... I knew I was screwed for as long as lived in this town.
Whatever. It's a great town to be a college football fan in.
... anyhow, Cal is my number two team, usually I root for USC in every game they play, except against Cal. And I guess, somehow in that national championship game, huh?
I can't ever let myself live that down.

I can appreciate the Texas tolerance as well.
After the loss to Texas in the Rose Bowl, I was a bit dismayed how Vince Young shred the vaunted USC defense.
After visiting SMU this past March, my daughter and I drove to Austin to visit UT as she wanted to compare the Texas Universities (UT, Rice, & SMU) where she had gained admission.
Austin has such a great collegiate ambiance and the people were so friendly when we visited the UT campus.
However, when I mentioned we were from socal they could not stop talking about their Rose Bowl NC victory with the jabs about Reggie Bush's payoffs thrown in as well.
Victory indeed makes life sweeter and I too now tolerate UT.
I plan on coming to Ford for the TCU game and hope the Mustangs make life sweeter as well.
BTW I like the barbs and banter of this board.

Note to HBPD:
To be a Mustang fan:
You must hate UT with all your heart and soul
TCU is also to be hated but not with all your heart and soul
UNT is not hate worthy
If you want to hate somone else too that is ok.
