Noticed June Jones riding in a Mustang in the park cities Independence Day parade. A float in front of him had a country band playing a song about June and Pony up, and had the alumni band, and had several players tossing out mini-footballs. Anyone on that float must be a god among men. If only I was manly enough to have been on it.....

The band was Robert Lee Kolb. He has written a song called "Pony Up: Mustang Nation Will Rise Up" as a tribute to his good friend, June Jones. Kolb played it last night to a packed crowd at Kaboom Town in Addison, also. I imagine it will be worked into the marketing campaign this fall as well as make it's way onto The Boulevard. It's sort of a cross between Steve Ray Vaughn and Jerry Lee Lewis.

We got anything that's a cross between Alice Cooper and Fats Domino?

Yeah, we know you're not man enough to be in the same zip code, much less the same float, as June Jones.

It was pretty sweet seeing him there. I was wearing my SMU gear of course as were quite a few other people. Like the pony up song too.

I thought the Pony Up wagon was the highlight of the parade. The longhorn "float" was pretty lame. I bet A&M tries to troll out a float next year since the horns did it this year.
JJ was at the gazebo as well.
Great song and lots of enthusiasm!!

More UT alums and parents of current UT students live in University Park than any other school in Texas - including SMU. Just another reason that I don't live in University Park.
Of course, my wife (an SMU alumnae) points out that NO university except SMU should be allowed to have a float in the UP Parade because none of 'em are located there.

Sorry but you are mistaken. That was actually the DMN's float.

It would be funnier if it weren't true.
