It goes from the 5 stars to the 3 stars. TCU has a couple mentioned in there. Our 2 3-star people are not on there. Apparently a 5.6 rating is good enough for the top 100. A 5.5 is not, which is what our two are.

When you look @ the list & see how few are considering us it just shows you how far we have to go.
Of course these are just committments so anything is possible with an 18 year old. Also, I hope the list is not very accurate.
Next year I hope to see alot of SMU's on the top 100 list.

I think you'll find we didn't want most of them anyway.

Apparently, TCU didn't want any of our recruits either. Here's a description of our recruiting class by a noted TCU poster-Feisty Frog:
Braylon Williams didn't get an offer but coaches had contacted him. Chris Frazier QB out of Skyline has been looked at as a db and kid is a very nice athlete and coaches did make a trip to Fort Bend to look at Ben Hughes, but did not offer. No one else was given much more than a standard letter. The best of the bunch may be Marquis Frazier, the big DT originally from Garland was one of the top recruits a few years ago. If they can get him qualified and interested again he could be a good one.
Jones needs some size on his lines because right now they do not look like they can compete anywhere close to most Div1 teams in the trenches. He's taking some chances right now and will be a while before we find out if it is going to work, but if that was the TCU eleven we would be seriously talking about what has gone wrong with recruiting.

FWIW, I'll remind you of what HF Victory thinks of Feisty Frog and what the TCU community thinks of him. Just passing it along.

I really don't care much about what TCU does now...just know that we are ahead of last year in recruiting and are getting in some doors or schools that have been close to us in times past. Notice some of their star recruits are not making it in school for various reasons but that is not really my concern either. My concern is that we continue to develope and grow as a team. I am excited about this year and the years to come. Go Mustangs!!!

a) this class of OL so far is taller than what it's been so FF's statement here isn't applicable to this class (except for Atchison...some of the guys are slender but obviously height is more important than weight for an 18 year old) and b) I have a lot more faith in JJ & staff to evaluate talent than Bennett, Stallion, Feisty Frog or Rivals; and c) If Jones could get a bunch of 5 stars, he'd be getting them right now, I'm not worried that he's trying to find a bunch of diamonds in the rough like Bennett did (in fact he is reaching on a bunhc of guys we probably have no shot at so he's not scared).
The 2009 class will be the best we've had in a long time and recruiting will get better with winning. Is Stallion also complaining about June Jones? Still lobbying for Franchione?

Thought you would have figured it out by now.

I value your opinion. So I will ask you what you think of who Jones has recruited in comparison to previous years. With my untrained eye, it looks like we are doing better and competing for better kids. It would be foolish of me to compare it to TCU.
Thanks.

I can't see any facts misrepresented by Feisty Frog in that analysis.

You should have a lot more faith in JJ's evaluations and don't think anyone who is just a poster/fan in their right mind would think they know more about recruiting and evaluations than the people who do it for a living. Even Bennett was a good evaluator.
The recruiting part is the tough one. Are they getting the kids they really want, half of them, far less?.
Only guys like Brown, Miles, Stoops, etc. get over half the ones they really want so where do you think JJ stands in getting the kids that are on top of his evaluation board? How far down the list is he having to work?
My guess is that right now he is working far down, but building relationships, etc and as Feb closes in he will make some real waves. He had a very late start on 2008 & went after some of the kids he wanted while at HA which worked, but he is still getting in late on 2009 and expectations have to be realistic.
Too early to judge 2009 and 2009 is too early to judge what Jones will be able to do in the future.

The above is not a fact. It's an opinion/analysis. If he's talking about the current crop of OL and not the recruits, fine. If not....

Stallion, there probably aren't any facts misrepresented but the general tone of his argument is that either June Jones is failing with his recruiting or that he's taking big risks that could lead to failure.
I'm just curious to see what you believe. Do you think JJ should be doing better? It's my feeling that you're endorsing FF.
