Sooner or later, Steve-O will leaveMaybe not now, but eventually he will. Assuming it's sooner rather than later ....
When he does move on, who goes on the short list of candidates to replace him?
Re: Sooner or later, Steve-O will leaveHow prophetic. ![]()
Yeah, OK, thanks, smarta$$ .... I feel sure you knew I meant that his departure is going to come before, say, he retires .... like in the next few weeks, according to a lot of folks here.
So with that as the backdrop, let's just say he leaves within a year. Who is on the short list to replace him?
Things must be boring in Bangkok.
![]() I want to see Steve O. stay at S.M.U. 'forever'! He's a mastermind.
He was here damn near forever, especially in the realm of coaching
Sir, shooting-star, sir.
Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.
If Steve-O gets the ND gig, would Tulsa's Bubba Cunningham be a candidate here? Does he want out of Tulsa (who wouldn't?), or is he interested just because he, like Steve-O, was a ND athlete (Bubba played tennis)?
Would he have any interest in SMU? Would SMU have any interest in him? Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
If we lose Steve O. and then his replacement only stays two years, we need a list of possible replacements for Steve's replacement. We need to plan now.
![]() Pony Up
No idea if he'd be interested (rumor has it their soccer coach has applied for Coach Hyndman's job), but I would think we could do a lot worse. He has done some of the same things up there that Steve-O has done here: gotten coaches who appear headed for some success (men's basketball and football, anyway), and he has raised boatloads of cash for the football stadium renovation. Supposedly he is viewed in AD circles as a bright, capable, aggressive guy, so I guess he wouldn't be a bad candidate. Plagiarize!
Let no one else's work evade your eyes. Remember why the good lord made your eyes. So don't shade your eyes, just Plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize! (Only be sure always to call it, please .... "research.")
Not sure that many would consider SMU a significant step up from Tulsa at this point. Maybe we could go the Oregon route and just hire a Carl Sewell, Gerald Ford, or some other big money alum.
Back off Warchild seriously.
