But Rice are only returning 2 more players than we are.

I still think with a speed based D, we will be better able to handle these guys.

the advantage that the option team, (navy) or run and shoot teams have is that they are gimmick offenses........and teams only have one week to prepare.....not in this case though.....rice has been looking at every hawaii play since spring.....advantage rice

Our huge problem last year agaisnt Rice was defense. The year before agaoinst Rice it was offense. Assuming our offense is in good shape this year, we need the defense to step up. Last year we win if our defense can hold Rice out of field goal range. I have heard that in the spring game our corners played hard nose and straight up on receivers. Dillard is small as a receiver goes. A decent corner can bump him on the line and disrupt Dillard's pattern. We rarely played a head up hard nose corner on a receiver during Bennett’s last two years. That may change this year.

Also, we lost our best pass rusher last year early in the season. Rice may know our offense but Rice hasn't a solid clue what our defense will do. A more aggressive pass rush may be just the thing to eliminate the Dillard threat.

The key for us will be an improved defense.

And if our offense has a bonanza game, that pressure on Rice's offense may help us as well.

OK, way off the subject here, but I read somewhere a long time(10 + years or so) ago that Peruna was usually an uncastrated male pony because they liked the way they beahved (more energy, hoofing the ground, bucking, etc...) versus a female or gelding. If anyone knows the actual historical and present facts surrounding our live 4 legged mascot, I'd love ot know more. THANKS

I can confirm that for sure. In practice, the corners are lining up right in the face the WRs, and when they go, there's usually a pretty good battle right off the line of scrimmage. I think this will help our WRs too, as having to fight just to get off the line of scrimmage almost every rep, every day in practice will get them accustomed to more physical defenses.

Apparently EJ Drewery's already getting a taste of that...

And I like the idea of our corners having to learn how to jam at the line against a 6'6" monster of a man and a quick little pipsqueak like Lee in the same day. Our DBs should be well prepared to handle whatever our conference can throw at them.
We've never lost the tailgate.

Peruna VIII (the current Peruna) is male, as was Peruna VII. With a few exceptions, it has alwasy been male. Peruna is not castrated, and he can get pretty frisky around the ladies.
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

How could anyone not notice Peruna's giant sack swinging around?

Rice would be idiots to over-prepare for us at the expense of establishing how they will prepare generally for every other team in the conference. However, Rice are idiots, advantage Rice.
