FRIDAY (July 18) CONDITIONING WORKOUT report

Postby PonyPride » Fri Jul 18, 2008 6:34 pm

Welcome to the shortest report this summer. I got there late, and the guys cut out early, and I missed some of what I was there for while doing interviews for features. So don't blink or you'll miss this award-winning stuff.

E.J. Drewery sat out Friday after rolling his left ankle Thursday. He said it was just a precaution, and he doesn't expect to miss any more sessions.

Perhaps they've been working on their tip drills already in these seven-on-seven sessions? If so, I haven't seen it, but there were several passes that got deflected and still ended up in the hands of their intended targets, including one particularly nice snag by Cole Beasley of a Bo Levi Mitchell pass that got popped straight up in the air by Victor Jones.

By all indications, Terrance Wilkerson is doing a nice job in his transition to receiver, but he had a rough two-play stretch Friday afternoon. First he went up for a pass in the back of the end zone and got crunched between Jay Angotti and Keith Robinson, who prevented him from catching the pass. Then, on the next play, Justin Willis found him alone behind the coverage in the back of the end zone and hit him in the ribs with a pass ... which Wilkerson subsequently dropped.

See? Told you it would be brief.

That's why they teach them "catch the ball with your hands, don't let it touch your body!"

Your report was short, but you still provide more information — and better information — than anyone. We appreciate what you guys do for us.

So what you're saying is, Terrance Wilkerson is the new Columbus Givens?

Thanks for the updates.

Give Givens a break — a lot of folks were sad to see him leave. He's a good guy, and here's hoping he does well ... except against us.
