How does one tell whether or not a baton is male or female?

Calvin Murphy from the Houston Rockets was a world class baton twirler and entered and won many competitions...
Would have never known that until I saw old footage on CheapSeats on ESPN classic...was pretty damn funny, in the clip that they were ripping him on, he was the favorite but got upset and left the gym without getting his second place trophy, was a real sore loser....in baton twirling.

The late Marvin Zindler (Ch. 13, Houston) was also a baton twirler.
His last broadcast report was a year ago today.

The normal way...pass a credit card in front of it and see if it grabs it.

SWC trivia --
During the infamous MOB halftime where the Kiddie Korp rioted, the MOB had Marvin Zindler twirl his baton. This was the year that Marvin Zindler's reporting had closed the "Chicken Ranch." No wonder the Aggies rioted! LOL!
[This is why it is so sad for you youngsters. Hijinks like this don't happen anymore..well occasionally hmm can you say TCU's grass]

This shouldn't surprise anyone, but back in the 50s-60s - maybe 70s - TCU always had a male baton twirler. Seems he dressed in white shirt and white britches - looked like an Aggie Cheerleader (sic) with a talent - pretty scary.
