I don't think anyone said that nobody else was interested, only that nobody else had offered at the time of his verbal.

there are guys at every school who you offer in the summer because they are a known commodity and then there are guys you want to get Senior film on before offering. That's my point-with a guy like Padron most schools want to get actual starting game film on him before offering. SMU has made a calculated gamble to offer now before many schools were willing to. He may turn out to be Joe Namath-right now he's Joe Questionmark.
Joe Questionmark who has had the opportunity to audition for June Jones and this coaching staff. As others have mentioned, you gotta think we got a good feel for the kid at the camp he attended here.
Speaking of which, here's hoping my 7th grader to be knocked the socks off of Randy Allen at the first day of his quarterbacks and receivers camp today. ![]()
In probably the greatest year ever for QBs in Texas, I count 17 QBs from Texas who have AT LEAST FIVE (5) Division 1A offers. There are several more with between 1-4 offers. Now you guys can delude yourself all you want into thinking that "June got his guy"-I just ain't going to play that game. The consensus would be until he proves otherwise, that Padron is a Sleeper in this class of Texas QBs-and that's fair assessment based on the facts. Doesn't mean he won't turn out great-but once again SMU fans should know that if you recruit a class full of sleepers, then you get lucky with even 2-3 that turn out to be stars that doesn't necessarily mean your team will improve. SMU still needs to improve its recruiting significantly if you aren't using the SMU slide-rule to measure the Class.
Makes me curious, confident, and excited all at the same time.
Especially when you look at Stallion's post about QB Drew Allen: "I'm still a little surprised SMU hasn't offered as he seems more interested in SMU than we are in him-but reports are that he had an excellent camp and SMU Coaches were impressed. He has been verified at 6-5.5, 198. You look at him and wonder how strong this kid could be after four years of strength and development. Wonder if it might be mobility that holds some schools back since they list him at 4.9. However, he has plenty of offers: Colorado, Duke, Ole Miss, Purdue, Vandy, Wake Forest, Kansas St, UTEP and NMSU. To me he seems like the kinda of kid that could develop into an NFL QB." Yes he is a sleeper at the moment but, if Jones sees something and likes Joe Questionmark, then I like Joe Questionmark. I want a jersey with that name on it. Someone make it happen.
Surprisingly, that lesson has not been learned by many on this board, although they are pretty adept at regurgitating the 2 or 3 sleepers who DO make an impact. Here’s hoping Kyle Pardon has a tremendous career at SMU.
This is a crock. I love how you just decided to group everyone into one category over one QB commitment. Sir, that is very misleading -- when you are most likely incorrect. And you know it. But continue to not acknowledge it like you are prone to do. I don't think we're done recruiting other QBs out there. And don't forget Drew Hollingshead, who doesn't have to be on scholarship to play here. There are those who believe this will happen. Are they right?......
1 from juco....
After thinking about this, maybe Jones got the guy he wanted... We did have other QB's interested and he decided on this guy. I have to believe that the kids in texas are not so dumb as to think about the records they will be putting up in this offense a la Chang/breenan. Did you see the heisman presentation this year?? I have a feeling that before June is done here, we might have a rep involved, whether it is padron or someone TBD.
I saw he had offers from Sam Houston and Montana State. So ya got that goin for ya I guess.
ya think
Texas Football on Padron. The Good and the Bad. Tony Romo Part Dieu. Also reference to Tanner Brock's commitment to TCU and SMU's strong recruitment of him.

Stallion, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to correct your French: Deux - two Dieu - God What you have right now is: "Tony Romo Part God." I'm sure you didn't mean to write that.
If the Cowboys win the super bowl this year that exact quote might end up being enscribed on Jerryworld's main entrance.
