Just guessing:
In August 2008: 1. Willis 2. Turner 3. Mitchell 4. Smith (redshirt) 5. Gamso (redshirt) In August 2009: 1. Willis 2. Mitchell 3. Gamso 4. Smith 5. Turner In August 2010: 1. Mitchell 2. Gamso 3. Smith "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
I have yet to see JJ give JW any kind of endorsement other than stating that he is "doing what he needs to do". I am beginning to think it likely that JW's accuracy may be an issue, and that it is only his game-experience which is keeping him in consideration. I won't be that surprised if Logan starts on Aug 29, or maybe even shares time with BS or BLM. I would be surprised if a frosh gets the starting job, but some time of the field is definitely possible.
Personally, I hope that JW is the starter and that he is the starter because he is the best at running JJ's offense in training. But I can see it being difficult to get him to stop trying to make stuff happen with his feet, and not being accurate enough over a 50-pass game. I would LOVE to see JW light it up this year, give our young lads a chance to mature and then we are in GREAT shape for the next 4-5 years.
I dont think there is a question really. Willis has the experience and seems to be a smart enough kid to be able to pick up the offense quickly. It is not like he has never seen the plays before. If he screws up somehow then I would not be surprised to see BLM get some playing time early in the year.
If you consider he was the one being tackled with the ball nearly every down I don't think his fumbles/plays ratio is all that bad. "I think Couchem is right."

do you guys think it might be better to redshirt mitchell this year and let the powers that be have a run this year? That way he is guaranteed a possible 4 full years as a starter.
I heard Mapps is coming back at QB, he played it in HS. That is why he isnt on the roster its a trick for Rice I heard JJ is going to run the Veer option with Mapps, McKinney, and Martin... Dont doubt me I know things.
Regardless of who the starter is, you have to pick your best man and go with him. The in and out, back and forth game kills confidence no matter who's your man. I know for BYU last year, Max Hall had some shaky moments in the first couple games. He hadn't played a full game of contact football for 4 years since his last high school game. But the coaches stuck with him even though they had opportunities to yank him. The result: 11-2 record and a O'Brien nominee this year.
