Wolfe is where you start and end-

Played in The SWC not a watered down CUSA

Jason came to SMU when we desperately needed talent!

Wasn't Jacoby Reinhart drafted by the Cardinals and Kevin Garrett by the Rams?

I can't remember if Chris Bordano was drafted by the Saints or if he was a free agent signing.

Slim pickens around here for the NFL Draft. Wonder if it has a thing to do with recruiting? See SMU draftees on link below

Not sure where Sanders ranks post-DP, but this thread got me thinking. Just how good was Columbus Givens in the fall camp when Sanders was redshirted and Gumbo was deemed 'too good keep off the field'? Or did Sanders improve that much?

you know Givens did catch 42 balls last year coming off his death bed and having to rebuild his body. He could have been a real asset this year with another year of healthy development

Getting back to the NFL Link-interesting that in any and every 2 year period in the 1980s SMU had more NFL Draftees than SMU has had in the last 20 years since the DP. Plus the last 10 Draftees in Rounds 1-3 came during the 1980s period. I would conservatively estimate that 80% of those draftees were Texas Top 100 players or their equivalent in their home state. Of course, recruiting doesn't really matter. I wonder if there is a Division 1A school that has produced less NFL draftees in the last 20 years and I'd bet there are about 10 JUCOs that have produced more.

I had no idea Craig James was selected so late (How many rounds in the NFL Draft in 1983 though?).
Larry Brown? We have Larry Brown? Cool!

Did you notice Clayton Korver being drafted in 1973? Back then even our basketball players were drafted into the NFL.

maybe he was drafted late because he had already signed with the Washington Federals?

*James was drafted #1 by Washington in the USFL draft, held Jan4-5 1983

I was surprised to see the great Gary Hammond was taken in the 3rd round. I still see Gary every couple of months or so, he is very pumped about June Jones, and the mob boss! He was my favorite player when I was a kid, long live #17!

I didn't know you went back to Gary Hammond. I thought you were an 80s convert. Was your favorite player:

WR Gary Hammond
RB Gary Hammond or
QB Gary Hammond.

An 80's convert???? I remember #19 Keith Bobo, so that was around 72. I can't believe you Stallion! When I started playing football in school, I got the three bar face mask, just like Gary Hammond! And that was one of the coolest things about him, three different positions in the SWC!

There's no ES without JWill...someone had to have got him the ball. So my vote would go to JWill over ES.
