This is RC Slocum we're talking about right? By co-eds are you referring to the occupants of the barn behind the school of agriculture?
I'm not making this up. If they were BSing me, so be it. But that's what I was told.

I hope for gosh sakes that we don't start seeing that 'Polynesian macho haka' thing at Ford Stadium. Leave that sort of thing to the cheerleaders.

I must say that last one is pretty impressive. Go coach!
Apparently, the wahines were saying Go as well. He would be following the great tradition of R.C. Slocum and Gary Williams. Both were well known for having their share of co-eds.
That is an interesting assumption. Where did it say co-eds? Like California, I bet they have a lot of beach volleyball out there. The volleyball wahines aren't necessarily co-eds , i.e., students at all.

It said UH wahines, I assumed that meant co-eds.

It's not relevant, just a statement of accomplishment in a comment by one of his supporters in response to an article in the paper. No more, no less.

Incidentally, I was perusing the comments again, and somebody posing as jtstang posted. I want to set the record straight, I never said I wished Jones had stayed in Hawaii.

I'm sure the state is more than happy to have an excuse to abandon the run and shoot; $400,000 is nothing compared to the damage that offense caused.
The really funny thing about this post? Hawaii is *still* going to use the run and shoot offense under McMackin. Hawaii's offensive coordinator is Ron Lee, JJ's WR coach at Hawaii, and Ron has used the run-and-shoot since very early in his career coaching in high school.

Good Grief, this post started as a comment about the resolution between JJ and UoH and ends up being a discussion of who JJ might be @#$#$#. C'mon gang. This reminds me of the "Cheers" episode where the bar regulars where discussing, if Wil E. Coyote was the anti-christ. It is just dribble....
PONY UP!

June didn't just take Hawaii from horrible to good... they were this close to dropping the football program altogether. You can rest assured that the mature, knowledgeable Warrior fans know what June did for that program, school and state.
The fact that he had a whopping $50,000 a year recruiting budget, was promised over and over that desperately needed improvements would occur, and was consistently lied to by the A.D., and yet still managed to go to a BCS Bowl game ranks up there with Moses and the Red Sea...
Pay no attention to the juvenile backstabbers... they know not of what they speak...

I agree with Dr. Death. In addition to the other failings of Hawaii's former AD, I would add the refusal to increase the salaries of assistant coaches despite JJ making that a high priority each year. JJ even gave an offer in writing to reduce his salary and give that money increase the recruiting budget and assistant coach salaries, which the AD refused. I believe that this cost Hawaii some assistant coaches and hampered recruiting.
Hawaii could have locked up JJ for $500k per year if the former AD wasn't an idiot!
From my archival blog:
http://warriorquotes.wordpress.com/2008/01/09/jj-offered-to-take-a-huge-pay-cut-in-2006/
Jones approached Athletics Director Herman Frazier with a unique offer. Jones was entering the fourth season of a five-year contract in which he earned $800,016 annually, half of which was paid from donations. Jones offered to sign a new five-year contract, taking a large pay cut that would reduce his annual salary to $500,000. The savings, Jones said, would be used to hire McKnight, create a non-coaching position for Davis, and boost the recruiting budget. The only stipulation was the deal needed to be completed in time for the start of spring practice in April. Frazier rejected Jones’ offer.
