Watching the Opener in Boston

Postby Canadian Mustang » Wed Jul 30, 2008 12:41 pm

I'm going to the Redsox game August 29th. I'll obviously have to leave early to watch the opener on TV. Any idea of a good spot to watch near Fenway?

the likelyhood of finding the game on tv anywhere within 20 miles of bean town on a day when the sawks are playin is about 0

Actually, there is a nice British Pub (can't remember the name) right across the street from the Kenmore T stop on Commonwealth; about a 5 minute walk from Fenway depending on what part of the park you are coming from. My wife and I ducked in there after a day game in June and had a few beers. There are at least a dozen sports bars within a 9 iron of Fenway, but some of them have lines to get in on gameday and you might have a hard time finding the SMU game on at one of those. There is also a place called Eastern Standard that is a little higher end (from a pub), and I think I remember them having flat screens at the bar. Have fun and good luck.

Methinks Bay's pain to arse ratio is much < Manny's. But that's just me.

as its been said before, you live in BOSTON, east coast. chances are you wont see this game, especially if the BOSOX are playing. havent made it up to Bo,Mass yet but theres a chance you can find a bar with the college game plan package and ask them to turn to the game.
