Maybe its just me but that was some very partisan press. I wish we had that. The theme of the article was very much "Rice is a well-oiled machine' and all the players look great.
I don't see any reason in even playing them they are so polished

They did not even make the Houston Chronicle. If they did I missed it when I read it this morning

Jarrett Dillard is a fantastic player, but I can't figure out all the hype around Chase Clement. He's OK, but they make it sound like he's the next Davey O'Brien Award winner. He's good, but Dillard catches everything in sight. I'd love to see what numbers Dillard would put up with a great quarterback.

Rice doesn't scare me. Ever. Why? Because they are Rice. That is all.

I think if you go back and check the old southwest conference records over a period of time that Rice is the only team that had a consistant winning record against SMU.

Over what period of time? Rice, along with the rest of the SWC, destroyed us every year from 1988-1994. Prior to that, from 1977-1986 we beat them every year. We lost a few to them along the way, but I think it's a major stretch to say they had a "consistent" winning record against us.
After 1988, unfortunately, just about everyone did.

when they said a handful of old grads came to watch they literally meant there were only 5 people there at the practice

SMU doesn't have a .35% winning record against any team in the SWC since the DP. Probably hovering around 20% if you throw in all former SWC opponents.
