Everyone I've talked to says Pete Fleps really looked good in spring ball, and supposedly he's a lot stronger, too. Odiari and Victor Jones might get a crack at winning the position, too, but after going through spring ball, Fleps has to have a leg up, right?

Even though Fleps had a good spring and offseason, I think that it is still open as to who will take the starting spot. Odiari brings solid game experience and considerable physical tools, and Victor Jones, if as good as advertised will be an interesting addition as well. Even though the coaches created a depth chart after spring ball, I would think that there are several positions that are still going to be strongly contested.

I see Derrius Bell and Bryan McCann as pretty much shoe-ins for our starting corners and Rock Dennis for one of the safeties. Bonilla and Smart start at linebacker with Fleps, Odiari, and Jones fighting it out for the third slot. On the DL it will be Serge and Handy in the interior with Yenga at one DL and the other to be contested in fall camp.

On offense I see Willis stepping up and remaining the starter. Sanders and Robinson are the only two for sure starters at WR. The other spots will solidify as fall camp continues. At RB, I think Demyron is clearly the starter, but Chris Butler could also be poised for a productive year. On the OL, Enright stays in the middle with Lobo and Tennison at guards and Poynter and either Chase or Beachum on the other side. I think it will be Chase if he has added enough weight and he has the game time experience.

These are just my thoughts. Obviously, this all could change dramatically as camp progresses.

You are not considering the 15 freshmen that aren't going to be redshirted. The position battles are going to increase. Throw Spring out the window.

Possible starters: Chris Banjo, Victor Jones, EJ DRewery, BJ Lee, Taylor Thompson, Bo Levi Mitchell just to name a few.

I am considering some of the freshmen. I'm more thinking about our starting lineup on opening day. I think experience over upside will prevail for the opening lineup on August 29. I agree that several freshmen may find significant playing time if not starting positions as the season progresses. I just don't think it'll happen in the next 3 weeks. That being said, I feel like the freshman WR have more opportunity for immediate playing time than any other position group.

I still get a chuckle out of comments like Player X had a great Spring non-sense except perhaps at QB and WR positions. Would love to see the Defensive Statistics on Powder Puff Flag tackles from the Spring. They didn't play Football in the Spring they went through drills.

goes hand in hand with those reports of how good our bball team looks in pickup games before practice starts. "Man so and so had 25 assists in this pickup game last night."

Don't count out our JC DB McElroy...Word is he could take Bell's spot...
