Well PonyFans,

I know it's 100 degrees outside, but for us, Fall has finally arrived. Players are reporting today (Sunday) and the first practice of the season is tomorrow.

To cap it off, at noon tomorrow, June Jones is having his kickoff media press conference. We'll be there, and while we can't technically broadcast it live, as soon as it's over we'll post it -- in its entirety -- right here. I anticipate having this first segments up by 1:30 or 2:00.

We hope this will be a banner day for both SMU's football program and PonyFans everywhere. If you have classmates, friends or other SMU alumni interested in Mustang Football, please send them this link. We want to do everything possible to generate city-wide excitement and fill Ford Stadium.

I thought it was interesting that he said he is historically a one QB guy. Whoever is tabbed as the starter should feel more confident knowing he will stand behind his choice. I like this stance. I personally am not a fan of a 2 QB system. I think it, for the most part, creates two mediocre QBs and doesn't allow either to get into a rythm.

One other point I took note of was that he said he'd have the QB race narrowed doen to two guys by two weeks prior to the first game. I guess that mean that next week we'll have a better idea of how the position is shaping up.

It was also interesting to hear that he thinks 12-15 freshmen WILL NOT REDSHIRT. And that in today's game, you've got to have at least 3 QBs ready and who can play.

He also said, I think, that Braden has a chance to play. That is based on Braden's being in the All Star game the other week. the PCs are always hard to follow because you can't hear the question.

I like the "best guy will play" attitude, but I wonder if JW will be in the last two.

I'd also like to say this...now this is reality TV! Who will be the SMU QB? All we need is JJ on a dais with two mustang helmets standing in front of the 5 QBs.
