from Jan. 21 edition

"Highland Park defensive lineman Brent Karrington, No. 91 on The News' area top 100, has orally committed to SMU."

Karrington is supposed to be 6-3, 245 and run a 4.7 or 4.8 40.

rivals.com has him listed as a "soft verbal", with a visit to Air Force yet to come.

He has a 2 star rating and is the number 67 lineman.

primary position
Strongside defensive end

height 6-foot-4
weight 245 pounds
bench reps 19
vertical leap 27 inches

Bio Notes and Stats: An up-and-coming prospect that is bound to earn solid Division I looks because of his strong athletic ability and strong work ethic. He always seems to make big plays. Top 100 offensive lineman Kyle Williams says Karrington is the only player that can beat him on a regular basis.

And that's pretty good praise, since that Williams kid is ranked as the #3 lineman in the state.

Hope we get him and that he's a good replacement for Corey Ford (the DE that got away)

I've been somewhat skeptical in the past, but maybe I have him mixed up with someone else. If he can beat Kyle Williams, he must be able to play.
