I thought that JJ made an interesting point that has yet (I think) to be discussed on this board. He made reference to having to run the ball to control the pass-rush. This got me thinking that we really have no idea how much we will run the ball (and by that I mean JJ's version of running - shovel passes etc.) because a lot will depend on whether the line can contain the rush. I certainly think that our opponents early in the season would be stupid to discount a running game given the quality of our backs and the fact that the QB protection may not be running at premium for a while.
I think we are going to pose more defensive problems for teams with the ball coming out of the backfield in the hands of D-Mart and company.

All the more reason to try and control the ball. Keep the D of the field as
much as possible. But we only have one proven running back and if he goes down we could be in a worl of ipo.

Even though it may not come often, I cannot wait to see Martin and McKinney pancake some DB's in the open field.

i will tell you this SMU fans... there will be no running game at smu! but WHO cares when you win...
JJ will try to go an entire game without running the ball...fun to watch.
only thing was , was that he could not throw when team was up by 30 at end of the game....
keep tabs on this... it will happen......
a game with 0 rushing yards, all passing!!!!!!!!!!!! good luck.

I'm all for continuing to throw against tech if we somehow get up 30. Give that classless Leach a taste of his own classlessness.

Cheers mate. I was taken aback by being referred to as "abu" and it has just struck me that some on this board might assume that I am Bangladeshi or somesuch. While my roommate at SMU was called Abu, and was from Bangladesh, the "Abu" in my handle is a Irish Gaelic war cry.
Now if we were in Ireland, we could get a great stadium side to side "Mustangs" - "Abu" chant going, but, like the haka, there is no reason to celebrate a non-Texan culture. Not even sure if we have any really Irish players. Kyle Sullivan maybe?
