Mizzou fans will travel.

I learned that last year living in STL.

Are you not returning to the STL?

Note - Your response made it seem like you might not be returning is the only reason I ask. Plus, you changed your avatar.

Stallion wrote:I stand corrected-but seriously, every single one of these games WILL draw 25,000+. That don't happen very often at SMU folks. People in the stands, bands from both schools, spirited cheeriing sections for both schools-almost like real college football again. Most of the ACC, SEC and PAC 10 schools will never happen because those schools want 7,8, 9 home games, will demand more money than any porportional increase in crowds from the schools on our schedule or don't make any financial sense. Some of you are talking in La-La Land if you think those schools are coming to Dallas.

Five or six years is a long time in football have winning seasons and any thing can happen like Ford being enlarged to take larger crowds or a few games in the Cotton bowl.

Always good crowd, beatable team, all Navy (home) games are carried on the CBS-C Cable Network. Those are some good reasons. Not my favorite opponent either but I can't complain about it.

No fireworks at Ford, please!

I'm not happy about playing the SFA Lumberjerks. Here's what most of their fans look like:

Correct.

There was just too many things I wanted to be involved in back home so I'll be staying here for a couple years before transferring to somewhere in Dallas. I have no idea where yet, long shot for SMU but would be nice.

Still means I get to go to most of the home games this year.

TCU, UNT, and Baylor is SMU's sweet spot in scheduling...they need to try and pull that off every year possible, lock into long term deals.

All games will draw nice crowds, easy travel for the fans of all four schools, and SMU saves a bundle on travel costs each year (as do the other schools).

UNT and Baylor could develop into a nice rivalry game each year, just like TCU.

I know some people hate on UNT but the positives far outweigh the negatives...its a game we should win most years and don't forget that UNT gave us our second best home crowd of the year last season, lots of UNT grads in the area and Denton is pretty close and we save a ton on travel.

Why is Navy such a frequently scheduled opponent? Baylor, TCU, A&M and Tech I understand because of the SWC tie in, but is there a history with SMU and Navy?

One of the greatest - if not THE greatest - SMU v Navy games was played in Dallas in October 1963 at the Cotton Bowl. The Mustangs defeated the Midshipmen who were lead by future Heisman trophy QB Roger Staubach, 32-28. I was there. :)

I love these schedules, only thing I would change would be to replace all the SFA's with NTSU's. I know lots on this board don't agree, but we should be playing them more often, IMO.

One of the greatest debacles for a head coaching debut was against Navy as well...............

Good thing our defense is actually practicing against the option this year.
