For starters, I don't believe that JJ ever said he was ranking them, just picking the top two. I don't believe he will say who is third, fourth or fifth. This is nonsense.
I also don't like being looked down on as naive thinking a record-setting junior quarterback just MIGHT be a better choice than a freshman who has taken two weeks worth of snaps against his own defense. Especially after watching Willis the first two weeks of 2006, and listening to all the [deleted] and whining after how poorly the offense played. Especially after watching football in general here in who knows how many years. Especially after watching who knows how many quarterbacks fail, or go join a band, or leave, or transfer, or turn out to be a four year holder and host of a weekly tv show. Sure he could turn out to be Jesus in cleats, but around these parts Justin Willis is the first QB who has really been able to do things in many years, and it's grade a bullplop to not believe he's a better choice from the fans point of view. Jones surely has a golden vision for this place, and that's why he's being paid two million dollars a year. As fans, we have twenty years of losing, four failed head coaches, and the 116th ranked defense from last year. Without the benefit of foresight and a golden vision, fans have to fall back on a 51 touchdown quarterback.
I don't buy it at all - the original poster is a total newbie with very, very few posts, and it makes absolutely no sense that JJ would name the "starter" here. He's made it very clear he was just going to narrow it down on Monday.
Not only that, but why would Willis and Turner be the ones taking the majority of the reps for the last couple of weeks only to have 2 true freshmen beat them out? This is a load of crap...I expect it will be Willis and then probably Mitchell (with Turner as the outside shot) named as the top 2. I think JJ acknowledges that while Willis is not ideal for his system, his experience is important and he definitely has the skills to succeed. I think Mitchell will be his other choice since JJ wanted him in Hawaii and he believes so much in his abilities....if Willis struggles I think Mitchell could be the guy.
The original poster may be a liar, but he's certainly conducted an interesting social experiment here. I've never seen so many pony fans come out of the woodwork to either completely rationalize the "decision" or go into denial over it
