The losing has annoyed me more than anyone can imagine. I endured four years of hearing about this joke from one of your better players in recent history on a daily basis, and I'll defer to his perspective when it comes to how any head coach makes a decision based on starters, etc.
Simply, a coach that has succeeded to the point of making well over a million dollars a year and spends more time with these young people than their parents, girlfriends, and siblings combined should and will have all authority, and rightfully, have the balls to hear the criticism if it doesnt work as planned.
Just got off the phone with the aforementioned player and he shared a great analogy for this current situation.
Bennett was like an owner of a hamburger joint. Willis became really good at taking the orders and turning it into his own turdburger, but since he was never managed or groomed to possibly one day manage the place, this turdburger took a life of its own. He was able to slap enough hidden sauces and oversized bread to make the burger seem much bigger and better than it really was, and the seven regulars really believed they were getting great value on such a big burger. The dept of Health walked in and shut Bennett's restaurant down (far later than it should have; still not sure how he got approved in the first place) and by some grace of something bigger than any of us, June Jones decided he would take Bennett's shell space, gut it, tweak all ingredients, but most importantly, rid the restaurant of the turdburger. Not the cook, just the food he prepared.
So with another menu in place, the cook was given an option to learn to make the best grilled chicken sandwich in town or take his knowledge of preparing a turd to the Ho Made Burgers at Fitzhugh and Swiss.
For all the knowledgable fans claiming Jones is making such a mistake by grooming two young cooks with an obvious interest in providing the best chicken sandwich, and therefore relegating turd cooks to third team, well, go hungry or enjoy the digestion of the turd.
For those that would like to let Jones run his own joint that has been a success at every location, we've gotten pretty crowded quickly, so take a buzzer and it will light up when your table is ready.
I'm not sure how good of food Bo Levi or Braden prepare, but its appetizing knowing they never witnessed a turdburger served.
As for Justin, whenever he's ready to get on board, I'll try his food. Until then, I'll let the new owner staff the cooks.
I'd be making a huge mistake if I didnt try to make clear one simple point...the age of the cooks have nothing to do with how good the food tastes. Its June's building, menu, he orders ingredients, and he staffs.
If you're struggling to conceptualize this very legit analogy, next time you're in McDonalds, take a look at the cook and ponder whether he's the fuel behind McDonalds success, or if the ingredients, management, and history have anything to do with it. POST OF THE DAY!
(Shouldn't this also be in the 'Burger Wars' thread over in the 'Around the Hilltop' forum?)

jtstang, I really respect your opinion because you've managed to sit at your computer and post over 7000 times.
Please, I'm begging you to profess to the board, since you've watched the tape and have such noteworthy experience grooming quarterbacks, who exactly you think should start and why that wont be such a crappy idea.
We all know you didnt expect Willis to start because you remind us how prophetic you are, but who did you expect to start?

Look! Up in the Sky! Over your head! it's the point of JT's post!
When Bowel Movement and Bull [deleted] are competing, the outcome is necessarily "Crappy" It's just a joke man. Something this board can really use today.

Trick question that can never be answered. Nice try, though. We all know that jtstangg has no expectations.

Again, no expectations only applies to wins and losses. To answer Mr. Humorless's question, I expected somebody other than Willis to get the starting nod.

I do not normally come onto this board to pick fights but I must say as an avid, true blue blooded diehard HOW DARE YOU. Say what you will about his inability to relate to young players or his struggle to find a franchise quarterback but eventually he found and developed Tony Romo, drafted a franchise running back, tight end, and built us an offensive line and a defense. He left the team in immensely better shape than when he first arrived and as a result Mr. Howdy Wade Phillips can come in, rebuild these guys' self esteem and win. I know that this is an SMU board so I understand there may be people who did not grow up Dallas Cowboys fans but to them I say WATCH WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT ALL THINGS DALLAS COWBOYS. Its like bashing Scientology in Southern California- not a good idea.
...Now, Pony Nation, I apologize for the rant but I was angered by 03Mustangs' comments.

Congratulations! Would you do the same if it was JW? Or have his skins on the wall (in 2 seasons: 7 wins, 3 suspensions, 0 Conference Championships, 0 Bowl berths) earned him a pass?
I would boo JWill if he put up a crappy performance as well. I'm not boing anyone yet, or writing off the season. I hope there's no reason to boo. I have no reason to believe BLM or BS cannot handle the job yet. If we start out 0-6, I find it hard to believe there will be a lot to cheer about, though.

How many playoff games did he win again? Overrated.

Who says either of those guys will need three years before they become successful? Stay optimistic and kill your expectations.

Never boo the kid. Ever.
Not booing anyone yet, but I'd boo JJ. But, AS I'VE SAID MULTIPLE TIMES HERE, I'm not booing anyone right now. I'm still excited for the season. So goes the life of a Mustangs fan. In for a penny....

In Philly they boo Santa Claus. I hear in Casper Wyoming, the minor league franchise is called the Ghosts. I wonder if booing there is really cheering? And JT that was truly great, but as a railroad buff BM of course means Boston and Maine, and it took a minute for me to figure out my dooty was to laugh.

Oh yes that old thing. I will be the first to admit that his tenure did not go over as well as expected but I appreciate what he has done for the team. While he did have some bad luck and some setbacks I do not see his time here as a failure. It was a success because now we are in a great position to win many playoff games for years to come. If June Jones leaves this program in position to win championships like Parcells did with the Cowboys then I better not hear anyone bashing June Jones. Ever. End of Story.
