Hopefully, it won't be something stupid with another Broadway Musical like CATS or Phantom of the Opera!

I still can't believe they rolled out Fiddler on the Roof. Ridiculous!

If the band doesn't throw the kind of crap that it threw out there for the Tech and UNT games last year, it'll be fine.

Haha... fitting.
Before you guys get too far into the show... if Hawaii 5-0 is really on the list, please someone explain to the director that it is Hawaii's fight song and we should not be playing it to welcome June Jones here.
Agreed! What kind of songs can you really play that tribute June?

Whether it's Don Ho or Hopkins, here's hoping the Band really brings it this year. Peruna playing record anyone?
Rice game - 125 times. ![]()
Lots of college bands do exhibitions at high school marching contests. They recruit players just like football recruits players and it's a good recruiting tool for the program to show kids what they could be a part of.

This may seem ridiculous to some of you, but you have to judge/appreciate bands based on how they present their show. You can't write it off just because of song titles or themes. They will never be the original artists, for better or worse. It's all about the arrangments and the drill, the energy and the flow of the show.
I've seen bands bring fans to their feet with the (relatively obscure) symphony of a dead Russian composer, and I've seen bands absolutely flop while playing the most popular songs of all time. Don't be prejudice just because you don't listen to 'showtunes' on your daily drive to work. Let the band show you how it's going to present it. Sent from my Motorola brick.
I misunderstood the question. I thought SmooBoy was asking how many times we wanted the band to play 'Peruna' to set a record.
And what's that? A band that continues to march in high school marching competitions?
From what I've been told, the record was set by the band playing the entire game double time Peruna, getting louder during big plays and scores. With JJ's penchant for long games, this is doable.
Not doable. You aren't allowed to disrupt the snap of the ball, which people interperate to mean you can't play during the snap of the ball. "I think Couchem is right."

But wasn't that a volunteer band and not the official sanctioned Mustang Band? Prior to Tulane, the "official" record for "The" Mustang Band was 690 at the Texas/SMU basketball playoff game circa 1972 in Waco. The band started playing Peruna after half time and did not stop until the Mustangs lost in triple overtime. Just send 'da money.
