From today's Morning News:
Tyler Lee offensive lineman Bryan Turner (6-2, 290) has orally committed to SMU. He is the Mustangs' sixth commitment. Oral commitments are nonbinding, and the first day a football player can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 5.

And of course, here's Recruiting Guru's analysis of Turner:
"Bryan Turner reminds me of former A&M lineman Calvin Collins. He's strong, compact and plays very low to the ground, making him hard to move. He has very good technique, strength and footwork. He'll never look like the behemoths who lead the way for the offense in Austin, but he's a very strong, talented and serviceable lineman.
--------------------
If this kid's another Collins, we've got a real prize. Collins was an exceptional lineman for the Aggies.

That's a great pick up for the Ponies. I've seen Bryan play a lot, and he's as dominent a blocker as I've ever seen. He's really hard to move, and he moves well for a big guy. And believe me, that's a solid 290. There's no fat on this kid at all. And he's versatle. He can play center or either guard spot, and he can deepsnap.

Bryan said all along that he liked SMU, Alabama, Texas A&M, TCU and Baylor. From what I've heard, he didn't get offered (at least not yet) by Bama, but TCU and Baylor did. And A&M was planning to do the same. This is a great addition for the Mustangs.

Keep it up, coaches!
As I see it, here are the offensive linemen we have returning next year:
Mike Benson (who will be a redshirt freshman)
Grant Eidson (sophomore)
Martin Guidry (redshirt freshman)
Townsend Hargis (junior)
Sterling Harris (senior)
Brad Keischnick (sophomore)
Dustin Morton (redshirt freshman)
Matt Munz (junior)
Eric Neal (junior)
Chris Poulos (redshirt freshman)
Steve Reindl (senior)
Hulsey Smith (redshirt freshman)
Chris Urbanus (redshirt freshman)
and our two oral commitments:
Justin Boren
Bryan Turner
By my count, that means we have 15 offensive linemen coming back, plus any additional signees and walk-ons. How many do most teams carry?
Plus, Sterling Harris and Steve Reindl will be the only senior linemen next year. Which leads to the question: How many more do we need to sign?

"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses." ... "Hit it."
