A lot of true freshmen and several redshirt freshmen running second team. And with special packages being the wave now, they will see the field like Jones promised.

Just keep an eye on Cole Loftin. Not much has been written about him. But he didn't get to second team because he was a last resort. This kid is a football player.

Again, that's why 4-8 (maybe even less) is all I expect in 2008. But I'll be there for all 6 home games.

I would think that Jones might think of putting Willis or Turner as the holder on place kicks.

I really didn't expect Drewery to be among the top 8 WRs but I am pretty dissappointed that Haynes isn't among them. He must really be struggling as I figured his combo of experience (realtive to the frosh) and size would be a huge advantage for him.

I have no doubt that he's a talented guy, and I hope he tears it up.

But your statement is confusing - which players did get to the second team because they were last resorts?

What happened to Turner on the line? He was all over the thing in the practice reports.

I like to see Beasley returning punts - if the Wes Welker comparison is at all accurate, he should be fun to watch. From what I hear, he's gonna be quite a player. I agree w/ the Haynes comment - I really expected him to make an impact this year. He and Burley seem to have fallen out of favor after some hype as recruits...very obvious JJ prefers the smaller quicker guys to the physical possesion types.

Every time I've been to practice, which is several, I end up reaching for a roster, wondering who No. 82 is. Beasley is going to be a stud.

Beasley could be the steal of the dra...er...signing class. The town of Little Elm will be rooting for him. The Welker comparisons are inevitable. Would not be surprised to see him break a couple punt returns this year.

I wouldn't be surprised, to see Beasley earn the starting job at some point.

Frosh don't pop up on the depth chart unless they are pushing spots.

I fully expect to see Beasley, Wilkerson, Thompson, Huahulu, and Banjo starting after the first three games.

As for Haynes, really Robinson and Sanders were the only D-1 receivers at Spring practice. Haynes isn't consistant enough physically or with his routes. He has physical attributes, but he doesn't have the opening burst when he comes out of cuts.

This will be the best SMU secondary in years. I worry about the d-line, but the secondary will be good.

Frosh QB doesn't worry me as much as weak o-line and a frosh QB...
