OK, I'm embarrassed to admit, but I peeked at the Park Cities News, which is, simply put, the worst newspaper in Texas and maybe in the world. Anyway, they decided to kill a bunch of trees and blow four full pages on mugshots and little mini-profiles of every player on the team. (Maybe this would have been justified before the season, rather than 4 games in?)
Anyway, here's what we have from Highland Park offensive lineman (and SMU recruit) Ryan Gray (who's listed at 6-6, 325): "Has been playing football since second grade. Throws the shot put for HPHS track team. Hopes to attend SMU, West Virginia, Baylor or Houston."
Combine him with Justin Boren, Bryan Turner, Kalen Thornton (6-5, 305) and that Tittle (6-8, 370) guy from Richland Hills or wherever he is from, and there's some meat on the line!
What do you think, BUS?

I like those guys, but I also want to see the lineman from Allen HS and one of the two big boys from the offensive line at Hillcrest. Then we'll really have a foundation for the future.

Gray is the real deal in size. Faucette will probably make him a 305 pounder before he could build him back up. Gray played behind Eidson last year. Eidson was the best graded lineman the school ever had,and in the same year as "top 10 lineman in the country" Kyle Williams.Gray's mobility is best when he is inside at guard. He like everyone else except Williams, was not allowed to go against Karrington last season in any pass rush drills as they all got embarrased. Foot work for all these line prospects has to be important.Since there are few exceptions to a true freshman making an immediate contribution Gray could be a solid 330 as a rs fresh. Plus he would like to play at SMU. GO MUSTANGS

Thanks for the update, hpfan.
Since it sounds like you know Ryan, I like the fact that he wants to play for the Ponies. Has he told you anything about SMU's interest in him? Does he get the sense a scholarship offer is forthcoming?
Again, thanks for keep all of us PonyFans up to date.

Highland Park actually has another offensive lineman worth looking at.
J.D. Kearney is 6'5" and 290 pounds. He's not as overpowering as Ryan Gray, but he's strong and plays nasty. Not sure about his footwork and technique. Anyone (hpfan?) know about him?

both of the HP linemen, gray and kearney have the d-1 potential, know how to pass block, are strong in the classroom, will get bigger under faucet(kearney probably 310 solid by eoy 1)have been to smu camps and visits, and would like to play here. as to offers,i do not know.last years recruiting class of o-line is turning out great.Eidson,Benson and Urbanas will likely all be in the starters rotation by next year and will probably be about 280-290 each.My guess, that puts them a year or two ahead of schedule. Both of these HP guys could then help one to two years out as well.Kearney also went to fast twitch last year to improve his foot work and conditioning. They both have good upside ..

Urbanus is going to start in a year? I haven't heard his name all year, on the radio, in the newspapers, on this site, etc.
I have heard a lot of positive talk about Eidson and Benson.
What does anyone know about the progress of Dustin Morton and Martin Guidry?

Dustin has a broken knee cap and is redshirting this year. Was progressing quite nicely with summer workouts, but has/will sit out this fall.
