These are a few comments SMU fans will be making all season:
We pass too much!
We need to run more. We need a balanced attack.
If we had a tightend in there, the offense would be better!
The defense is spending too much time on the field and getting too tired. We need the offense to run the ball more. We are losing the time of possesion battle.
Everytime we pass, three things can happen and two off them are bad.
What! Two yards to score a TD and we passed the ball! THREE TIMES!!!

Yeah, we're a pretty predictable bunch.

And we said this the past two years, except substitute "passed" for "ran".
GO MUSTANGS!

These complaints are all an upgrade to the complains from the last few years. I'm apprehensive about this year, but I'm excited for the future. At least I know we have a proven competent coach.

1. in the past many complained that we ran too much and didnt pass enough, so I HIGHLY doubt many will complain about all the passing. its what happens when you run a spread/run n shoot offense.
2. I know I have be complaining about the lack of use from the TE position but I think this type of offense doesnt need a TE, did hawaii ever have a TE that caught more than 2 passes a game? i dont know the answer to that but many shouldnt complain about the lack of TE use. It was mainly having a big body in Kennedy that I totally felt was underused the whole time he was here.
3. We all have been complaining about the defense staying on the field way to long for the past decade anyway. Sure the O needs to stay on the field longer but JJ is known for having a quick strike attack. If the D cant make the stops then thats the Ds problem. The offense will give them enough rest, they just need to do their job, something they havnt done in years.
4. PB would draw up pass plays when we only needed 5 or less yards to score alot so many pony fans are use to that.
thanks for telling us things what we've all complained about in the past.
5. STILL FEELING BITTER ABOUT JJ NOT STAYING AT HAWAII?

No need to attack every Hawaii poster who comes on here. Sashimi is a good guy as are most. I've become a bit of a UH fan myself just because of the way most have handled JJ's departure.
Anyway, this SMU offense is going to be fun.

None of the possibilities seem appropriate. Whether we pass too much or run too little hasn't been an issue. Now if we are scoring, who cares whether it is via a pass offense, run offense of balanced offense. The biggest issue is still defense.
There we have weak tackles, blown coverages, lack of depth and a multitude of killer mistakes. We need vast improvement on defense. If we stop people from scoring, then we will be satisfied with any offense.

I am worried about our defense. And our offense, which is to be helmed by a true freshman.

"so I HIGHLY doubt many will complain about all the passing"
you can't be serious?
there will be bozos complaining about passing too much before the end of the first freakin half of the very first game!
if we go 3 & out after two series, they may even start whining then
"why dont we use demyron more?" .... "we pass to much" "it may have worked at hawaii but it aint workin here" and "boo who if we just had 1-11 Justin in there things would be different!"
the "small picture" crowd will be in high cotton early on!

That one time we ran was so effective, we need to do it to open the pass up more!!!!

I have no probelm with the complaints as long as they are prefaced by:
"We would have won by more if we had only........".
