Ineligible Player - 1998

Who was the player that was deemed to be "ineligible" in 1998 that caused SMU to have 10 games "vacated" for the year in what would have been a 5-7 season but instead is in the record books as 1-1?

What possible reason could you have for asking six days before the season opener, and the beginning of the June Jones Era?

Our self-imposed sanctions seemed pretty severe at the time and even moreso today. I would love to see similar degrees of self imposed sanctions at schools like Alabama, etc.

Hopefully we are over the period feeling we have to punish ourselves more severely than other well run programs.
