Questions on the QBs...
I have my CFB fantasy league draft tonight, and I'm wondering what SMU fans think Jones' true plans are at QB.
Basically, is this demotion of Willis just an inspirational tool (i.e. he'll be the starter after the first game or two)? If not, how much will Mitchell and Smith play? Does one get basically all of the snaps? If so, for how many games do you expect (i.e. original starter replaced after a few games?, original starter excels and keeps the job all year?, etc.)?
Obviously just guesses for the most part, but any educated guesses you can give me here are appreciated... and best of luck to SMU this year. Thanks.

Spend any time around Coach Jones and one thing that becomes readily apparent is that trying to read his mind is wasted effort. So how much each guy will play remains to be seen. He might have it determined already, or he might just be prepared to start one and see how it goes.
With that said, he has stated multiple times that he plans to "have two ready to go but will prepare three." Not the most enlightening commentary, I realize, but as far as his true intentions, I'd say we know about as much as you do.

I get the impression -- and it's only an impression at this point -- that Jones speaks with a little less BS than the typical coach. If he doesn't want you to know something, he won't answer the question or he'll just close practice (rather than putting sensitive information out there).
He's named Bo Levi the starter, and he's getting the preponderance of snaps in practice. Coach Jones has also said that he's a "1 QB guy", further elaborating that he'd played the position himself and believes it's counterproductive for a starter to always be looking over his shoulder at the next guy in line.
So my guess is, at least for the short term, Mitchell is going to be the starter. I don't see a lot of substitutions happening.
On the other hand, if Willis (for example) starts dominating in practice, I wouldn't be surprised at a switch.
Tough planning for a fantasy league.

If the O-line shows up for more than a play or two each offensive drive, then neither Mitchell nor JWill should be running for their life, nor throwing piks. As for fumbles, if the ball is in the air thrown by the QB, then it is hard for the QB to fumble it. To paraphrase somebody else on the forum board, if it gets past 3-potato in the run/shoot, the QB is holding on too long.
