This really goes to show, keep your mouth shut unless you know whee your words will go. Isn't the internet great!
Mustangs by a TD on Friday. I say our defense surprises and keeps us in the game until BLM gets over the initial shock of game speed and gets our offense going midway second quarter.
I'm going with 42-35 SMU
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.
Potential is nothing, performance is everything.

A close friend of my Father was quarterback on a very good Rice team. He was recruited by both Texas and Rice, he lead Rice to a victory over Texas.
When the SMU dp story broke, he was very candid in telling me that he was paid money to play FB for Rice.
These references to SMU cheating while remaining silent about what every other school was doing always bothers me.

all I know is that we are 4-15 against Rice since the Death Penalty. I just want that to change. Soon.

I have a question for you General, why do you even care about their band? this mantra reminds me of the concern that Aggies have with anything Longhorn. Why bother yourself with it, if it's really that beneath you?
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Bo was never interested in Rice. He has said several times that he can't wait to play there again. He loves the field and has friends on the team. I have a hard time believing an AD would talk trash like that.
Bo Levi is already motivated to kick thier butts.

Just let it ride until Saturday.

Come on - how do you feel about Rice and their band?

Point is that an AD would decide to make that comment to another person as a measuring stick of "us versus them."
I have NO DOUBT that the Rice folks, and this AD in particular have no love loss for SMU...I also believe that 99% of the comment was not meant maliciously. It is that other 1% that is irksome.
This stuff is hardly bulletin board worthy...after the first snap or two the players are (hopefully) relying on training and execution rather than rote emotion because 'someone insulted me or my pa'. That said, for those of us not suited up, those comments by the Rice AD will make a Mustang victory that much sweeter to savor.
I hate trash talking in any form.

Peruna81... I seriously doubt our AD said anything like that... unless your source is a close friend and they were BOTH engaging in trash talk... which still doesn't sound like CDC. Coming off of 3-9, he'd be foolish to be so arrogant. It could cost him his job... and If Bo never was interested in Rice, I doubt if CDC would even know his name. This is not High School where the AD IS the football coach. Our AD has been hiring basketball coaches and supervising major construction efforts (plus fundraising)... I doubt he knows many names at all that didn't sign with us... and even fewer reputations.
Why would we have no love lost for SMU?? Because of what happened in the 80's?? I think you've been punished enough don't you?? I believe we beat you 106-3 around 1917... have you forgiven us yet??
Our AD wasn't anywhere near Texas at the time, so why "particularly him"??
So-Cal Pony.... one can certainly never say never... but as we've never even been investigated... much less found guilty and punished... yet we apparently have alumni running around bragging about being paid... I'd take the comment with a grain of salt.
Good luck/health on friday... though you'll understand if I don't wish you victory. Cheers!!

Being that in America, getting 58% of the vote is winning by a landslide then yeah we kicked butt against Rice. Also, get to know your SMU history. We cheated all the way up to the death penalty just like every other team in the SWC.

If I remember correctly, Rice didn't recruit Dickerson or James.

Hambone, this was not some random person 'running around bragging about being paid'...he was a close friend of my father, he quarterbacked Rice to a victory over Texas, he is an honest and decent man.
He was not boastful about it at all...he simply looked directly at me and said mater of factly..."I was paid money to play football at Rice".
Do I believe him....YES.
Do I think Rice has ever paid its players to the degree of all other SWC teams....NO.
