Fan GameDay Superstitions

Post by SmooBoy »

We've all heard the stories of players eating loads of fried chicken/steak, wearing a special shirt under their pads, watching specific movies or even walking through the same paces on gameday.

I know we as fans can only have so much impact on what actually happens on the field, but I am sure we have our own rituals.

I always wear the same SMU t-shirt to games and am wearing it today at work. I also try to not talk about the game (especially with my wife) with anyone as to not jinx what might happen.

Interested to hear of anyone's own take. Let the neuroses commence.

I drink beer. Lots and lots of beer. It really hasn't helped the team much. Maybe I'll switch to liquor this year?

I check out hot chicks on the 'vard. And mooch off everyone who will share something with me, just ask mrydel and those special delivery boys. Not Inane, though, he don't like him no moochers.

2 Bloody Mary's, 15 beers, and a flask of bourbon for the game.

Since opening day in 2000, I have brought a bottle of Old Whiskey River (Willie Nelson whiskey) and brought to our tailgate. The theory was that the more I drank, the higher our score would be.

This year, I'm changing my tradition and going with a bottle of Gentlemen Jack.

Hold on, thought there was already a BaloneyPony? Are you his alter ego?

Apparently what ever you drink, you need to drink a little bit more. Last season alone would have been 5 or 6 wins better with probably just one more swig.

Not really a gameday superstition, but I shave my head every year (for the last two, and three being this year) before the start of the season (though this year I'll be using a nice long guard).

In any case, I'm about fifteen minutes from my self inflicted and delivered hair cut..... and then it's off to Houston.

That is nice. And should be long enough. Good luck.
