My guess is that it will be 39 games into the JJ era before SMU receives a vote in the AP Top 25 poll.
How about 25 in 25, though that makes it JJ's third season.

Unless we go to a bowl game this year and then the championship game next year and win the bowl game. That would be nice.

Thinking that it won't be until year two at a minimum for a bowl. Thinking 4-8 this year. Hope I am wrong but SMU is really deficient at several segments this year.
we will have to go 10-0 before anyone notices

Looking at the last two seasons on the AP poll, this is what it took for a non-BCS team that was not in the preseason poll: 2006: Boise St (3-0), BYU (7-2), Hawaii (9-2) 2007: BYU (8-2), There were 3 non-BCS teams in the preseason poll, once out Boise St needed 7-1 to get back in. So I would think that 9-2 should get us in. Go Ponies!!

Any visions of a top 25 wll take at least 4 years. JJ simply needs enough time to recruit the calibur of athletes necessary to achieve that standard. The 2009 recruiting class is exciting; but JJ needs at least 2 more classes that raise the bar to at least 4 star level skill position players. His ability to recruit will be somewhat proportional to success/wins. The quicker they start winning the sooner he can start attracting and competing for real talent.
