Wow, I thought we had a new coach!

Fumbles, interceptions, penalties and missed tackles...that was the hallmark of Bennett and Caven teams. It looks no different from previous teams. We have a lot of maturing to do and we best do it fast.

It has nothing to do with coaching.

The team with the better players wins the great majority of games. SMU's defense is pitiful -- DL is being pushed around, LBs are midgets and the secondary looks slow and small. OL is terrible as well.

This isn't Texas or Oklahoma or Texas A&M pushing SMU around. This is freaking Rice that is manhandling the Pones and making it look like JV vs. varsity.

I was thinking 4-8 prior to the year but I reserve the right to retract that prediction. This could be another 1-11 season.

Oh, and Texas Tech might hang a hundred on this defensive outfit.

I wasn't expecting much tonight -- but even with the minimal expectations, I'm walking out feeling unfulfilled.

Agreed. The only positive I'm pulling from this one is that I didn't waste my time or money going down to Houston to see it.

Just curious, but do you think the score would have been closer or worse with Bennett & JW?

Oh, and have fun at the game in 3 weeks...I can't be there because we're having our 2nd child. Looks like that's going to turn out to actually be good timing.

Oh, I fail to mention all the blown coverages just like a Bennett or Caven team. Jones has plenty of time to improve and that is what he was hired to do. But honestly, the same stupid mistakes that have killed SMU for over a decade continue. Eliminate errors and we at lest stay within 20 of Rice.
