Phil Bennett is a nice man. He is a terrible coach, DC or head coach. His success at Kansas State had everything to do with the players he inherited from Bob Stoops. Once his players started to play, Kansas State's defense turned to green poo. He is hardly qualified to be a DC at the 1-A level, he is a HORRIBLE judge of talent, and is at best, a position coach in at a Texas school where his connections with high school coaches can make him a somewhat valuable staff member. His 5 years at SMU set us back 5 years with regards to the talent level. He took a job at Pitt, which will be Wanstands last year, and then will be unemployed again.....great decision to take that job over Baylor where his one talent, his texas ties could have been of value, and Briles will at least have 5 years.

you can add too that he isn't and never was a great recruiter-one of the greatest loads of BS ever babbled on this board. So far is not credited with a single Pitt commitment.

Until Todd Dodge came along, I had never seen a head coach as lost on the college sidelines as PB. I never got the sense the team was ready at all, and was constantly waiting for the mistakes to happen that would cost us the game.

Obviously all that's still there for now, but at least we appeared to have a gameplan in place...we just need the personnel.

well....since stallion said it...i will say it as well.....just because he is from Texas, knows texas, and his brother was a Texas high school coach...does not make him a good recruiter.....can you name me a top recruit he has signed? Maybe Vincent Chase who he never used?

BTW = was his first staff the worst college staff ever?

i think i remember sometime last year (maybe against Memphis) that he let the players call the big play at the end of the game or something like that...does that sound right or was it a nightmare i had?

i seem to get the two mixed up pretty often when it come to Pony football.
