I will address a couple of comments. First about the running backs. They are faster and more agile than what you saw out of Rice but running backs are only as good as the line blocking for them and the O-Line could have had a better night Saturday. As far as Cam Luke being as good as Dillard, I never said that. I did say he was very talented and if you leave him uncovered like you did Dillard then he will hurt you, and he will. That depends however on our quarterback play, which was not that great Saturday night. We will have a new starter against you guys, he is more mobile and can make things happen with his feet but doesn't have the arm the former starter had, however he is far more accurate. We, like you, had a lot of defensive issues as well and there is a lot that we have to work on on both sides of the ball before we come up there Saturday but I still think it will be a fun game and could be pretty close.
Texas State has some talented players but not enough to beat SMU at Ford. Their secondary will get cut up pretty badly by Bo Levi, Robinson and Sanders and Texas State will be forced to play from behind the entire game which will take their run game out of the equation.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

It really depends on how much pressure we get on Mitchell. I think the defense will drop into a zone and rush at least one LB every single play, or an LB and have a safety come in as well or two LB's. The name of the game for our defense will be rush and rush some more with the idea of forcing mistakes. We would have to be at least three TD's behind to abandon the running game. We dropped down two quick ones to Baylor last year but still ran the ball and was in a position to win at the end. I can see the same thing happening this week. Afterall Rice was down two TD's and everything worked out for them.
It'll be interesting to see how BLM handles a blitz and some consistent pressure, that is IF Texas St. can get some pressure on him. I figured Rice would have come after him and they didn't, they stayed back and blitzed less than 6 times.
And if not this week, I know Texas Tech will be in his face the entire game.
If we lose to TxState. I say we disbaned the team and should self-impose the death penalty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring back Ron Meyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of you guys are just being silly. There is no way TSU can beat you. I called a close game at Rice with you guys by 3, so yes, I'm overestimating your scores, but this is Texas State, not Rice. It's not like you're the Aztecs playing a pretty decent Cal Poly team...you lost to a Rice team that's been surprisingly good lately, and is picked by some to win the division, if not the conference (I'd post the link if I remembered how I got there, it's on espn.com).
So...losing to a possible Conference Champ, not terrible. Losing to TSU, not likely. Good luck to them in their whatever-it's-called division (um, remind me, FCS or II? or III? I don't pay attention to SWT since my one friend there stopped emailing me in like 1999), but they won't come close to beating SMU.
