Austin/San Antonio PonyFans Attending the Texas State Game

Postby ThadFilms » Tue Sep 02, 2008 1:19 pm

Hey Folks -

I am driving my sister's car back to Dallas (where she lives) and, of course, leaving it with her.... before I made any flight reservations for a return trip, I figured I would check with the ponyfans central Texas contingent.

Anybody making the trip via the automobile with room for me to hitch a ride back? (I'm good for gas money.)

Let me know.... it was such a good time, a couple of years back when I didn't have a car, to latch onto some locals and be able to talk SMU football on that beat down of a drive know as I-35.

Pax,
Thaddeus

Uh, well, I've been out all day so I am going to give my own thread a bump. Seriously, I really am totally cool with buying a plane trip home, but just hoping on of you are driving. Why? Well not, really for your sake, am I hoping, but for your sake I am hoping you aren't driving. It sucks, sucks, sucks. Literally, the drive between Dallas an Austin is one of the worst I have encountered.

But, if you are doing it.... well.... I am offering my company on the way back. Last time I did the trip (4 weeks ago) I put a book on 'tape' on my iPod. It blows.... the drive, not my iPod.

Anyhow, my witty repartee may not be enough to rouse your sleeping need to have some sort of SMU football talk on your way back....... but I don't care wear you live, if you live in Texas, or, really anywhere else in this country. For some reason (and I have driven all over) the drive between Austin and Dallas/Dallas ans Austin on I35 is probably the least enjoyable stretch I have ever driven. I used to drive 13 hours from Dallas to Denver/Golden to visit my bro...... and in no way was that trek near as painful as the 3 and a half hour (to four hour) stretch on 35. Really it's like the torture in Clockwork Orange.....

I rather enjoy the trip from Dallas to Austin, I'm tempted to swing down and pick you up. A tank of gas costs just under 70 bucks right now, you cant get a Southwest flight for less than that?

Absolutely not. SouthWest and AA are, at this point, surprisingly much more than that. Pretty close to double.

The thing is not swing down to pick me up, the thing is to swing down to abandon me here ;) .... but, XTC, you have a place to stay and more, we have a plethora of college chicks to (completely fail) to hit on.

But, seriously dude, I have a place for you to stay.

And just remember, the older we get....

Just to make this clear.... I am driving a car that is not mine up to Dallas before the game. After the game I will not have that car to get me home, as I will be leaving it in Dallas, I am posting here, because I am hoping for a ride back to the ATX. Maybe The XTC can help out. But I am totally willing and able to hit an airline.

But again, just because I thought about it earlier (and I always think this thing is funny)--

I have a place to stay, my cousin lives down there and I make the trip down once a month. What time on Sunday do you want to leave?

Are you serious? If so... well then..... yes.... I'd love to get back here (the ATX) before the Cowpokes play. Which is at 3:15. So 'prolly' around 11.

..................

That period break thingy is meant to show wher I deleted pretty much everything before I wrote after that little section before.... but it was all in the vein of "are you serious" and the "if so" I've got this and that...... you folks, of course, know how I roll.

To the Xtc...... well, I think you have it covered. I can bring the love. I would love to introduce to you and your cousin some of the great sammich shops of this great town.

I'm sure you guys know many of the great Mexican/Tex-Mex shacks in this town. And that is why, I will introduce you to some of the great sammich shacks.

Let's ride. I dont like Reuben sandwiches, cant stand rye bread. We'll think of something else. See me at Bus's tailgate, and we'll work out details.

I deleted whatever I wrote, but yes... let's ride.

Trust me, you'll love the philly cheesesteaks at Hog Island.

Again, trust me, the cheesesteaks are the best. I love them. They, I dunno', I guess.... 'rule'.
