Keys to the game

Postby Higher Authority » Sat Sep 06, 2008 2:33 pm

Some of these are obvious, but vital nonetheless.

1. Protect the QB. Give Mitchell time today, and he should be able to pick apart the Texas State secondary.

2. Stuff the run. Texas State's starting QB threw for 9 yards last week - NINE - on 2-of-7 passing. If they can't run, they're cooked.

3. Get Morstead untracked.

4. Youri Yenga - the most legitimate pass rushing threat last week clearly has the quickness to get by people, and should be able to today against a line that's decent but not that quick.

5. Get ahead early. Big early lead might just choke the life out of Texas State.

Offense:
protect the QB
catch the ball

Defense:
Stop the run, penetrate the pocket
CB: disrupt WRs at the line of scrimmage, and catch the ball

Special Teams:

Actually our net punting was #19 nationally. Not so bad, though some of those punts were ugly. 8)
