How are they so solid every year? I know tradition and recruiting, but they haven't had a bad team in a long time.

You need to mix that recruiting with one of the best staffs in college football and that is why they are always good.
I wish they played a tougher out of conference schedule though. Would be nice to see them play a LSU, USC, Michigan out of conference. That is one of the things I really respect about USC, over the last 10 years, their out of conference schedule is insane. They play Notre Dame out of conference every year and have scheduled the likes of Flordia State, Kansas State, Ohio State, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Colorado, Arkansas, and Penn State to name a few....and they have never scheduled a 1-a team!!!
I'm sick of Saturdays like this with top programs playing teams that SMU should be playing. If you want to win a national title, play the best. If you are LSU, you should be embarassed that Troy is on your schedule. I think if you want to win the 1-A title, you should not be allowed to have 1-aa teams on your schedule.

Notre Dame is really looking scary these days!
San Diego State (a 3TD Dog) is winning 7-0 at Notre Dame.
Steve Orsini knew what he was doing and Fat Charlie is so overrated it hurts!

I could not agree more. ND is the most overrated football program in the country.
I think its hilarious that once Willingham left, Weis won big with his players and now they stink out loud. Gotta score points to win!

Hmmm, I don't know. Could it be how close they've come to getting the DP in recent years?

Two reasons. First, they recruit some of the top Texas players. Second, they can match UT's payroll any day of the week. Go Sooners- love it when they stomp the hefers from Austin.
GO PONIES!!!

Sure Notre Dame is down now.....but it is a team they have on the schedule EVERY year.....and over the course of 10, 20, 30, 50, 100, years......they are not an easy game

I just wanted to steer the thread to give a little poop to ND.
It is a rivalry game and the records don't really matter .
We love to kick their tail and vice-versa.

Stoops won a national championship his second year at Oklahoma with players that John Blake couldn't get to win

I guess the question should be with all that talent, how come Big Game Bob hasn't won a title since 2000?
